| ROM Title (CH so-and-so ROM) Register Of Merit?? What does this title mean, and how do dogs earn it? Is it kept individually by breeders/owners like BIS BISS? |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Never heard of it before. But according to the Canadian Kennel Club it is a title. I will research some more.

| ROM is given when a dog has sired or damed so many champions. I think it is 7 champions. So for them to produce champions is a really good thing and very hard to achieve. The line on one of my boys sire side has a lot of ROM. ROM is usually added to the end of a dog's name once they have earned this title. Award of Merit I know is given at the Westminster for recognizing a really nice dog in the breed. They did not get Best of Breed or BOS. This year's Award of Merit at Westminster was: Ch Tophat That's Amore and Ch Stringer's Somethings Gotta Give Award of Merit is also given out at Specialty Shows too. There are only 2 Award of Merits given. |

| One would obtain and ROM for a dam or sire that is a member of the parent club I think, I'm sure Mary would know that answer for sure. For a sire to obtain an ROM he has to produce 6 champions and a bitch to obtain her ROM would be to produce 4 champions. It's different for each sex. AOM = Award of Merit is something totally different, it's just something like BOB or BOS but only given at certain shows like Tina stated. Westminster, National Specialities and some Regional Specialties will give out an AOM. Hope this helps. Donna |

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but, ROM is only obtained from the YTCA. You have to be a member that ownes the dog/bitch or the member that bred the dog/bitch.

So if someone buys a bitch from a YTCA member, and she goes on to produce 3 champions, would she earn ROM bc the breeder of the bitch is a YTCA member? | |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Yes here in Canada we just had our specialty for the Blackies, I was told that a) given out at the judges discretion, and b) rule of thumb is one AOM can be awarded for 10 dogs entered. So 20 dogs - 2 AOM 30 = 3AOM etc.

I'm not sure if the AOM is going to continue, since now there is the Select Bitch and Select Dog that is being issued at all dog shows.

| Yes. However, the YTCA Breeder would have to submitt the paper work.

| Let me clarify....I just went back and read the rules. It is the responsibility of the breeder(s) or owner(s) seeking a ROM to submit a written application combined with (A) proof of the breeder/ownership status of the ROM applicant, evidenced by a copy of the ROM applicant's AKC registration certificate; and (B) proof of the Champion Get or Produce.
