No, the fees are not $400.00 during the specialty. You ask for the dog show price...$225.00. But, even at that you share rooms. We've done 6 to a room. We usually fly in on Wed, have time to do quick shopping at K-Mart for the necessities needed for our stay; you know bottled water; piddle pads, cokes, snakes.....Then we have Thursday for sightseeing and shopping on Canal Street. If we're showing at Westminster we don't leave until the following morning after Yorkies Show.

				 | Any roaming we do is either by subway or train.....much easier that way. Taken it up to CT just for the scienery..... Found that when we go out at night, if you have a group, it's cheaper to rent a limo....

this time if we go I will book a suite and share with others .. the standard room is very small. There are many dining options nearby, and also a close cab ride away. It's relatively easy to fly with yorkies. They go in cabin, and if your boy isn't trained to crate now is the time to do so. I carried water in my purse and let him sip from the bottle. But the flight is so short, you don't need to worry about it usually

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I will talk to Denis and see what he thinks, I would love to stay in the hotel where the show is and I'm sure there would be some good deals to fly there,it's not a long flight. Gail, this would be the first time flying with our dogs, we'd take Beatrice too....for moral support LOL They are both really good travellers and love their crates, so that shouldn't be a problem, water is a great idea Question, we are going to the Roving Specialty also in Las Vegas, does the same apply ......I mean should I ship my equipment directly to the hotel ( assuming that I'm showing ) ? We booked in the hotel where the specialty is held. |

				 | This reminds me I need to get our room booked in NY! I ship my white wire cage for the room and beds and my ringside table to NY. I don't bring a grooming table as I groom in the room much easier for me at least. Then I bring my ringside table down and wait to show! Yes, I didn't get in this past year until Saturday because of all my flight cancellations UGH! That darn snow LOL...I remember the blizzard in NY in 06 LOL! That was something else! I always share a room when going to NY. You'll love it! Donna |

Make sure your crates fit the guideline for underseat storage, each airline can have slightly different rules. Also when you go through security you have to take your dog out of the carrier and carry him through security, then pack him up again in his carrier. I have a shoulder bag carrier, so I can pack his combs/brushes n things in the side pockets. I also had his certificates, rabies, his registration papers, his vet name etc. Consider travel insurance for your doggie too. Actually for you too. Hospital stays in the states are quite expensive and OHIP or Quebec Health care plan will not cover a whole bunch of stuff. Consider having attached to his crate his health information and most importantly if you and Denis are incapacitated who has the authority to act on your pet's behalf. A copy of your pet insurance should go in that pouch. Overkill? Umm not if something bad happens. Now I have one of those hose thingies, but my hubby is paranoid about installing same into an hotel room, last time I travelled by air, I just used the bathtub and or sink, used the ice bucket thingie to wet and rinse Razz man. It really wasnt' too bad. I groomed him ontop of the counter in the washroom. Take lots of poo bags with you. Emergency kit for you and your beasties. If you want some ideas for emegency kit you can pm me. Have fun .. so exciting to plan ahead.

				 | I've used the ironing board in the hotel room as a grooming table, I found that it worked quite well. Carl, I'll have to introduce you to the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap at the TicToc Diner. It's really good! You and Denis will really enjoy NY.

Installing the shower hose is a piece of cake. The only thing I use the plumber's tape for is so the water doesn't shoot out of the sides of the show head. When traveling by car I have another hose system...with different attachments to fit faucets..... If you're having difficulty....I'll do it for you. As far as potting....I travel with my SeaBreeze x-pen, very lightweight and it fits into my luggage. Just line the floor with pads.....and put the x-pen over it..... And remember if you forget anything....someone always has it.....we all take care of one another.

Denis loves NY, I've only been once for a hair show at Radio City Music Hall. It was before 911. He really wants to go to a few shows while we're there, after the Specialty. | |
