New York Specialty in February
 
Does anyone know the exact dates, or how I could find them out for the New York Specialty in February ?

We're planning to go and tentatively booked a hotel for 11th to the 16th of February.

Any info would be appreciated, Thanks

I think last year it was the 2 days before Westminster , so , if that is true for this years it should be the 12th and 13th....let's hope ,cause that's when our reservations are :eek:

It's not posted but when it is it will be at ytca.org. Also, don't forget that the Progressive Toy show is held at the Pennsylvania Hotel at the same time, so sign him up for that too!!

I can't wait for the entire week - that's how long I'm staying. I'm going to be with a couple of my breeder friends and I hope to see you there too, Carl! :)

Thanks Susan, I will keep checking. I'm not sure if I'll take Sebastien....I'll see how I feel about showing in it as the time gets closer....not sure if we're ready for that yet LOL

For me coming from California with a time difference...
I personally need at least one day to adjust in order for me to really enjoy the show...
and I sure need at least one day after all to digest the show experience...:animal-pa

Actually it's the Friday, Saturday and Sunday before Westminster.....With puppy Sweeps for the NY Club & YTCA on Friday. NY Club Conformation Classes on Saturday and YTCA on Sunday. The Progressive Show is on Friday at the Penn Hotel Across from the Garden.

Thanks so much Mary, this is awesome ! It should work out perfectly with our hotel bookings. Is it always at the New Yorker ? We booked a hotel very close to that.

Yes, it's always at the NYer.....You won't see anything go up on website for a couple of months yet. Everything is being focused on the Roving right now.

Don't let the National intimidate you. Go ahead and show. Yes, it's a bit nerve wracking to show there the first time. But, nothing like it. Although, the first time I went, it was without a dog. It was at the request of my mentor as it she wanted it to be an instructional time for me. Wanted me to focus on the dogs in the ring....

One thing to think about is that you didn't book your room at the NYer. So, if there is any snow. It'll be difficult to get from point A to point B with a dog.

Sweeps begin at 8 in the morning.....

But, if you plan to show; think about shipping your equipment about a week or so before the show. You address it to the hotel, with a note on the address requesting it be held for Guest. They'll keep it in the mail room. Then when all is done, you pack it up and take it to the mail room and they'll ship it home for you. With the airlines charging you an arm and a leg for luggage anymore.....shipping is the best way to get your equipment there.

Thanks Mary for all the great information, I don't have a mentor, unfortunately:( Wish that I did, so I'm just learning as I'm going.
Great tips about shipping the equipment, we're not sure if we'll fly or drive yet, the weather might keep us from driving ( it's 6 to 7 hours from here )....especially in February. We could take the equipment with us though,and then cab it to the NYer from our hotel, apparently it's quite close. I checked the rates of the NYer and they started at more than $ 400 a night....way too expensive IMO the conveniency would be nice though
I bought the DVD's from the last NY Specialty and once I watched them I really wanted to go...even to just watch
