![]() Thank you for stressing the point of not putting wet hair in wrappers. A light spray dressing is so different then actually putting one in full oil..something I have rarely done..or saw a need to do. It is not good to use plastic wrappers around the face..the hair will sour and mildew...it is hard to wrap the short facial hair..on that part I do use oil until it is longer. I made my booties out of bandage tubing..the type that comes on long rolls. I cut a 6 in piece twist in the middle and invert it..it makes a little 3 inch sock and I also use electrical tape..I like the colored tape they have now. If you have never used booties, please be careful and check them regular..you want them just tight enough to stay on, but not cut off circulation.

![]() I don't show or anything like thatbut i would love to learn more on how to grow a show coat. Can you tell me more about how that last rinse with oil works. Is it that you mix oil in water and after you are done bathing and rinsing your pup you poor this mix on them right before drying. Does this oil rinse have to stay ina few minutes before i start drying or can I dry right away. Thanks I really love those thread. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() I'm really enjoying this post. Pat, thank you for the idea of the tube bandage. That's a great idea, no sewing. I have read that plastic wrapping is a big no no on the face area. I've tried to gather the mustache with small latex bands, but they just come off. So, I will try to just use the oil for the time being and see if it helps with the growth of that hair area. Liza

![]() A friend of mine uses clips and barettes to hold back the face hairs, so they don't get dirty. You just have to make sure you check them often so they don't cause any mats. T.

![]() I would not oil and wrap..I would use a light coat dressing spray, brush through the coat and wrap..do not wrap a damp coat as advised. You can use a mink oil spray and lightly go over the coat, others products have been mentioned. Don't pile the oil on any coat..these things are meant to be used sparingly. Check each wrapper at least once daily to grow a show coat..doesn't mean you have to unwrap and rewrap head to toe..just check them to make sure they are secure and all is well. I redo the top knot wrap twice a day and change the face daily...the body can go much longer..3 or 4 days..some wait a week..alot depends on how hard the dog is on the wrappers. I have had some who were angels and never bothered with them..others who rubbed against furniture and fences to remove them. In those cases a nylon/silk wrapper jacket works well.

![]() Just remember that not all coats can be wrapped. A cotton coat - I would not recommend to be wrapped - they tend to mat too easily in wrapes. Silky coats - no problem. T.

![]() You are so right, much is trial and error. A soft coat can take so much abuse and still grow well..and they drink up the oil..really can't make too many mistakes on them that can't be hidden. My plan as of today..and I am subject to changing my mind hourly...is to start Kate in March at the West Palm shows. She will be in the 6 to 9 mos the first show date and the next day she turns 9 mos and will have to go in 9 to 12 mos. I am having a hard time with her and the lead..she is stubborn, but so much personality. I will ask Villette to post a pic..she is her mothers last puppy and a mirror image of her and same temperment. I am raising Charlotte all over again..rarely happens to me.
