| 5 month "Daisy" show hopeful update Well, here she is at 5 months. She is 3.5 lbs. She is getting better in many ways as each week passes. I hope for size, more neck, and a little more leg. I know she won't ever be up on leg. She will most likely be basically on the cobby side. I doubt she'll make perfectly square, But I'd like to see more leg because her back looks slightly long to me. Whatever else happens, she is sure a bright and wonderful little Yorkie. There is so much to like, I just pray it all comes together to be able to show her and finish her. Please feel free to share any thoughts or opinions and advise |

| She's very pretty in the face and I like the small ears and her top line is very good. At five months a lot can change so don't be too hard on her. Try stacking her while watching in a mirror so you can see her from a judges perspective. Good luck! Last edited by C C Kent; 06-03-2008 at 07:42 PM. |

| She has beautiful balance in her face and a great topline, I wouldn't give up on her. She could be a late bloomer like my Carly. At 7 months she weighed a bit under 5 pounds. She had her first heat at 9 months along with a growth spirt and shot up to 6 pounds. These little angels will keep you guessing until the end.

| Thank you for the encouragement all of you! It really helps to do this because it keeps my hopes up. I also like her head a lot. Now if it would just clear I know her color is still quite dark, but we know that she is silk and her breeder says the line clears late. So, no matter what, we may have to wait for that part anyway. At least she'll be dark steal blue. I finally found a food she likes to eat more readily...she's kind of picky. She's from a different line. My previous 5 yorkies were all pigs! (maybe the competitiveness? She's gaining weight better now. Her attitude is that of a show dog for sure. She's been going to class since 10 weeks old and she's extremely enthusiastic at practice. I have no doubt she'll demand to win. Now...just the other pieces have to come along Thanks again. |

I really have my fingers crossed and prayers up! I do think she'll make size, but what do you all think of her "length of back" ? If her back never appeared any shorter, would you think it is too long to show? Part of the fun in having little hopefuls is the learning that goes into it. Picking apart the pups just helps us all learn and breed closer to the standard This is my excuse for picking

If you measure her from the base of her neck to the base of her tail. Then from the top of her shoulder to the table you will know if she's actually square or not and how far out she is.

| Hummmmm I thought that the female is ok to be a little longer due to her ability to have puppies..??? Is that not correct? |

I'm not really sure what the means, but many think Yorkies should be SQUARE. I wish someone could find out if that is true, or if it is only interpreted that way? Here is an article I read recently for your interest: This is from Yorkie Club Magazine by Sonia Pagani: One must keep in mind the exact proportions - balance of the body. It should be compact, not necessarily square. The length may be moderately greater than the height at the withers; otherwise, the angulations of the shoulder and of the rear will be too straight. Also, the legs must be proportioned to the height of the thorax, with short hocks. The pasterns must not be flexible and the dog should have closed cat feet. When the angulations are at its best, and the arms have the proper length, the neck “comes out” well allowing the dog to keep the head uplifted during movement - this will give the Yorky elegance. The same may be applied for a well proportioned head. The muzzle should be neither long nor short, a good “stop”, flat skull and parallel axis skull-muzzle. This gives the exact positions for the eyes, which should not be round, nor too big and should have dark pigment. The size of the head must be proportioned and in balance with the body - rather small but not too small. Now don't get me wrong, I love sqaure a lot, I just like to know the finest details of the standard and prefer to get as close as I can. Does anyone have any feedback of their own regarding this?

When I measure by fingers from her occipital (spelling)? down to her tail, the length of her back is exactly as it should be, ....so really it's legs that need some legth, but if they don't get length, the back will appear longer than it should or legs more appropriately are too short We'll wait and see. She's worth waiting on at this point for sure. Thank you very much for such encouragement!!!
