| The Yorkshire Terrier by S Jessop to lighten the mood This book was published in 1920. I feel very fortunate to have found it. The book is written for exhibitors. In the chapter titled Cultivation of the Coat tells how to put the dog in grease. It also gives instructions on how to make a snood. A snood it a knit tube like a footless sock that goes over the dogs head and protects top knot and facial furnishings. I always used one with my Afghan Hound and have made one for each of my Yorkies. I never understood why Yorkie exhibitors didn't use them. Another thing I found interesting is Value Points when judging the Yorkshire Terrier. Quality and Colour of Hair on Back.......25 Quality of Coat.................................15 Tan............................................... .15 Head.............................................. .10 Eyes.............................................. ..5 Mouth............................................. .5 Ears.............................................. ..5 Legs and Feet...................................5 Body and General Appearance.............10 Tail.............................................. ...5 Total 100 I would love to know how this compares to the modern judging points. |

| That is very interesting, thanks for sharing. Do you happen to have any pictures of your Yorkie with a snood on? I would love to see it. Thanks again. |

| I too, have wondered about the snoods and used them way back when, on my Afghan Hounds and Longhaired Dachshunds. I have been told they would need to be out of satin to keep from damaging the coat, so I'm planning on "attempting" to make a couple this weekend. I think they would be great, especially for the facial furnishings.

| I make mine out of satin or a soft, thin knit (like the knit used for wrapping jackets). It's quite easy. Make a loose fitting tube and with tiny "baby" elastic at both ends. It should be tight enough to hold back the hair but not so tight that it is uncomfortable and the dog works to get it off. |

The same thing that happened to the Bathing Machine and the Sweety Blue DVD - I forgot to bring it. You have to remind me. I have several jackets and matching snoods that I have made and need to bring to the show. You will have to call and remind me when I am packing or I will forget. I am just pleased that I remembered the books and Conners pictures. | |
