Well, we just got back from the ophthalmologist... Issy has a tumor in her right eye giving her glaucoma. She has very little vision in the eye and, if left untreated, the eye could explode so she will be getting her eye removed next week. The good news is that the tumor shouldn't spread and our fingers are crossed that this is her last medical issue!

Missy/Issy had her right eye removed on Thursday. As I mentioned, she had a tumor and her eye needed to be removed before it got worse and more painful. The surgery went well but, as is usually for Issy, she freaks out when coming out of anesthesia. She wouldn't let anyone clean her up so I brought home a dog who looked like she had been in a boxing match with a swollen, bloody eye. What is also typical is that she is a quick healer. By Saturday she was off on a 2 mile walk and let me clean up the crusted blood. She has a huge appetite and lots of energy. If you didn't look at her face, you would have no idea that she had surgery a few days ago. She gets her stitches out in 10 days and then we hope she will be done with medical issues!

It's been a while but I thought I would update on Issy! She's been with only one eye for over a year now, and it has not slowed her down! While doing to follow-up on the eye a question about her kidney function came up. All tests showed her kidneys are fine, but she has protein in her urine. We have done every possible check and cannot figure out why. She is currently on high blood pressure meds and runs around here like there's nothing wrong. Here's a current photo, and one with Brodie in his favorite resting position. ![]()

Oh my goodness....she is sooo adorable with one eye. It totally adds character!! I can't blame you one bit for keeping her. I don't think I could have given her up either. I've thought about fostering dogs for a local rescue, but I haven't done it yet as I might have a problem when they get ready to go to a new family. That's also one of the many reasons I don't want to breed. I love acquiring dogs....but I just don't like letting them go.
