Rescue needed in GEORGIA! I must explain---sorry if it gets lengthy! I work at 911....and last weekend we got a call about a found dog...well Animal control doesn't work on weekends...and one thing led to another and the caller brought the dog to me at the 911 center. I have given her owners all week to TRY to find her---I had her scanned at Petsmart, no chip. Left messages at all local animal control offices, put up a memo on the Petsmart board, and put a found dog ad on Craigslist...NOTHING. I am by no means a rescue...I just couldn't have this helpless thing on the street! I have one Yorkie already (my whole world, Hope) and my partner recently got a little Boston Terrier puppy---needless to say, our little apartment is FULL! There is no way I can keep her...BUT, I desperately want her to go to a good home!! About her--- nicknamed Mama dog! She appears to be older---has VERY few teeth and her tongue hangs to the side about 75 percent of the time. She is SOOOOO sweet! She is spayed and well groomed! She probably weighs about 5lbs (total guess)...she is wearing a pair of goFetch jammies that are too big for my Hope in a size T2...and they fit her good in length but are really baggy overall, if that gives you an idea of her size. She is HOUSEBROKEN! The only accidents she has had here was in a minor bout with diarrhea...probably my fault not hers. Her first day here she would go straight to the door and when let out she would promply take care of her business and run right back to the door! Mama is a GREAT GREAT dog! She is laid back and just needs somewhere that she will be warm, loved, well fed and SPOILED! I think that she deserves that!!! I am located in Warner Robins, GA...just outside of Macon...and about an hour and a half or two hours south of Atlanta. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE call or text me at 316-518-0517 if you're interested in sweet Mama! Thanks guys!!

She is sooooo sweet! I know everything will work out! I just need to decide if it's best to give the ones who lost (or abandoned) her more time...or do I rehome her now?? Decisions, decisions. THIS is why I came to YT...I know 911...I don't know Yorkie rescue! I know my Yorkie---and I know what's best for her...but how do I know what's best for this one? I just want to do RIGHT by her...and Lord knows, if something ever happens to my little one....I REALLY hope someone takes her in and is super good to her too!

Did you run a found add in your local News Paper ? The News Paper & the local shelter are usually the 1st places people look when they loose their pet. CL is great but not everyone has a computer.

That's a shame. If she was well taken care of and looks well groomed, then she is probably not abandoned but lost. Does she appear to be mistreated or had lack of care? How is her personality, fearful or ok? You can usually tell if she was abused, a breeder dog etc. It would be a shame to rehome her if she is truly lost. Could be an older person's dog who does not have access to computers (Craigslist) etc. Elaine

| Oh, what a sweetie!! I would take her in a New York minute, that is if it was not for my husband. When I wanted to get Cookie a sister my husband said we are not getting another dog, we did not need another dog. I told him that "we" may not need another baby but that I think Cookie needed a friend to keep her company during the day when he and I were at work. To make a long story short, he stood firm and unbudging. I then told him that I could not live with a man who did not care about others. After while he came to me and apologized and we got Izzy! Best thing that we ever did for Cookie and us! I just better not push it!

I'm gonna try to reply to as much as I can... I didn't run an ad in the newspaper, mostly cause I didn't think about it...BUT, I feel like I did so many other things to try and reach out to whoever could have lost her. I mean, wouldn't any logical person call animal control to make sure their dog was not picked up (alive or deceased) in the area? I cannot imagine loving a dog and not reaching out and SEARCHING if my baby was lost. As far as her personality--it's hard to tell. She is laid back and not very affectionate...but she likes to lay with you and just be close to people. She is very calm and obedient...and doesn't really like to be bothered by other dogs. I don't think she was a dog used for breeding...mostly cause she is fixed and her belly and nipples don't look like anything that has nurtured puppies, at least not recently. I've gotten some good responses. One lady that lives close to me on a small farm with no other inside dogs is looking for a dog to baby and love---definitely seems like a GREAT home! I just wanted to use this resource to kind of make sure I'm doing what's best for her...and not leaving anything out. She is a really good dog and definitely deserves a loving home!

Dogs are considered property so in most states the Law requires you to either turn in found property or run an add for a certain length of time. If this dog belonged to an elderly person they would search the old fashioned way, by news paper & going to the local shelter. If they go to a shelter they may only look & not ask anyone anything. This is why you should Always run an add in the News Paper.

I work for 911...a part of the sheriff's dept. I have covered my bases with the LAW! EVERY one of the animal control officers knows the situation...and we only have ONE shelter local. The only way to look at the dogs is to tell someone why you are there! The found sign was a COLOR sign that couldn't be missed. Any phone call made to animal control also comes THRU the 911 center....in which I would be made aware of it! I'm trying to tell you that I have done SO MUCH to try to get this dog reunited with an owner that is at least TRYING! BUT you lilliemae seem to be hung up on this whole newspaper thing...which I have checked for LOST ads...something they should have taken out if that was the only avenue they were going to persue to find their lost dog!

| Hope you find Little Lady (not sure about calling her Mama dog if you don't think she has been bred) a great home. Bless your heart for going above and beyond to care for her and try to find her owners. Hope it all works out for her and a new family!

Also, in my county--- if you keep a dog for 7 (seven) days then it is considered your property.... And to get technical---the broke the law by: a) not having their dog restrained on a leash; b) not providing food, water and shelter for their dog; and c) abandonment! With every day that they don't look for her, I get less and less interested in their feelings on losing her...perhaps they do not deserve to have her back! That is EXACTLY where my thoughts are at this point.
