Thank you Carol for the support and good wishes for Our sweet Mindy. I can say this, if for some reason this did not work out my husband and I agreed that she wont be moved again.

If that were to happen I would probably try a behaviorist of some kind to help her with her bully issues

I honestly believe she loved me, but just really hated living here with the other dogs.

I agree with this. I know when my parents lost their 12 year old collie they were lost. They were in their early 70's. I found a wonderful collie for them through rescue who was eight years old and who otherwise would not have found a home. I signed as co-owner and the responsible party for his vetting and care. He had been dumped at a shelter and weighed only 45pounds. It was a match made in heaven. Mcduff they had for about five years or so and when mom became very ill with Alzeihmer's Mcduff would get up on her bed and sleep with her. When she went into the hospital for three months Mcduff cried on her bed.

Mom came home with hospice and then rallied back. Soon after, Mcduff passed away and then mom became very ill again and now resides in a nursing home and dad is 83 and ill. The match was perfect though and you would not have known they had taken that dog at eight years old. It was as if they had him forever. He stayed with mom as she needed him and she was there with him when he needed her.

I know this is off subject, but I know some rescues have programs for seniors where they will place an older dog with a senior citizen and cover the cost of vetting for the dog as many seniors are on fixed incomes and the senior dog would otherwise be homeless. I'm really a supporter of this because it gives an older person companionship and a senior dog a home he or she may never get. Elaine

Ok this just sucks! The lady who adopted Mindy is returning her, or rather I have to go get her. But it turns out Mindy is biting at almost every man she see's and has actually now not only broken skin but kept some of his flesh.

And this is happening while on potty walks so it has appeared to have gotten worse. She wasn't biting any men here any more, we thought we had it trained out of her for the most part, other than being jumpy with them.

I don't know what to do, I have done everything I can for Mindy. I am looking for a rescue to take her that can work with her further, so far they all say the same thing, NO! They cannot help a dog like that.

I am sick over the whole thing to the point it made me vomit I was so upset. Right now my gut feels like someone is turning it inside out..

I don't know what happened to make Mindy so fearful of men that she will attack them, but obviously I cannot fix it for her..

Oh dear so sorry to hear that. Have you tried LadyJane's rescue? I know she works with dogs with behaviour problems.

Also she may know of other rescues in your area that can help.. She is so very young still only 2

I am still calling rescues in this state, so far am still getting "we cannot help"..She is actually 4 or 5 from what the vet says. But yes, still young.

My husband and I were just talking and he says he remembers a friend of Miko's (who we got Mindy from) who was very very mean and he said he could see him being mean to a dog. So it may have been Miko's friend that made her hate men because she was fine with Miko, her owner for 2 years.

I am meeting the woman about an hour from here to pick her up at 11pm tonight after she gets off of work. I am so depressed, and upset

I am so sorry this is happening with Mindy. She surely deserves a loving home that can help her with her problems.

I just sent an email to these folks Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue, Inc. Hopefully I will at least hear back from them, and hopefully they can help.

So sorry she didn't find her forever home, sounds like "the people aren't the problem" Mindy needs a few visits with Cesar...
I wish you luck, seems like a few YT members were giving great advise about turning her over, so I'm sure the will be able to help you out and won't have any issues finding one for Mindy

and GOOD LUCK MINDY....

If I could afford to take her to a trainer or behaviorist I would in a flash! But they are expensive and I just do not have the extra money for that.

I have already contacted 8 different rescues in my state and nobody wants to, or is able to take her. I don't get it, I thought that is what rescue was for, to help the dogs. I had one write me back and YELL at me for letting her get mean..????????? They accused me of lying and just wanting to get rid of "my problem".. I was shocked!!!

Karla,
This makes me very sad .
I have not seen her be the mean to men thing .
It was just bullying Sunshine was our problem with her .
I can check with my vet again, they seemed to think they could find her a home .
She really is a great girl .
Steve

I have heard that they euthanize aggressive pups...you might want to ask them if that is true.

UYR does take problem pups now in certain foster homes. I would try them: www.uyr.us

Not all rescues will take dogs with biting issues...they are afraid of being sued. And, you need to understand that foster space is very limited! There are WAY too many yorkies being bred and sold to people who end up dumping them. It is a constant problem. We cannot possibly save all of them.

I am sorry that a rescue blamed you. That really is unnecessary...but, there is good and bad in everything. I am sorry that I am so far from you. I think it would be easier to find a solution. I personally could not take her at this time because I am at my limit, but I have contacts locally and maybe could come up with something. Just being aggressive with men should not be an issue....with female dogs is an issue....it would be best to have her in a foster home with only male dogs. I have no problem working with problem children! Actually I love them...to me that is true rescue.

If she is biting men, WHY is the woman allowing men to handle her?!?!!?!? Not that it matters now...since she is returning her. I am sure you told her she had an aggressive problem with men? Heck you told us so I am sure you told her all of the history. When we place a pup like that we make sure that they will not be put back in the same situation.

Try United Yorkie Rescue since they may have space in a foster home closer to you. If you do not get anywhere....I can try to see if I can find a spot for her, but she will need to be shipped which I am not so keen on. Maybe we could get someone to fly round trip with her.
