It all really IS amazing! It has all fallen together so well! My Cody who I lost recently :( came to me a few years ago with very little hair and multiple medical issues...maybe he and the other angels are looking out! :)

Oh thanks for the update..lets just hope it is not cushings and with a little medicine, good food, a good home and lots of love will heal this little boy. I know he has lots of love from all of us here.:)

The vet does think it is thryroid. If not, then perhaps Cushing's so yes, let us all hope for thyroid.

Here is a pic that was taken today. He is just soooo cute and sweet! She had him out with a couple of other pups today, but he did not seem very interested in them. He is a people pup!

The vet thinks the thyroid is causing both the hair loss and skin bumps?

I love this pic. Can you imagine going through what he has and still being that happy? We are definitely gonna need regular updates on Sonny!

What a sweet baby. My pom had Cushing's and her hair loss was on the sides and on her back very similar to this little guys. Also she would get these big patches of black greasy looking scabs and they would just peel off and the hair would come out and the skin underneath was very raw looking. I hope it isn't Cushing's and he can get over this skin problem and live the wonderful life he deserves.

Yikes...that stuff on his back was greasy and DID come right off with a ton of hair in it. :(

Just now seeing this thread...hearing/ seeing things like this gets me so emotional. I'd love to come face to face with whoever abandoned this little guy.:mad:

I am hoping we will moved to a bigger house by this time next year and I would really like to become a foster. I would love to be now but we are really pushing it with the 5 ppl plus the four-legged family members we have.

Well, Patti, sadly that is what it is. I just got the news today. We will be taking him in with Yorkie Haven and begin treatment as soon as the vet makes a recommendation.

I have been hearing some positive things about the treatment. I am hopeful he will do well once we start. He does not have any symptoms really other than the hair loss and some increased thirst.

I must say I am lacking in knowledge about treatment for Cushings. I know what it is....just have never had a pup with it.

Thank goodness there is so much information out on the internet and it does reassure me that Sonny could still live a good life. Hopefully people on YT who's dog has Cushings will respond...Maybe you should start a new thread.

Well darn. I'm sorry, Linda. I was praying it was only his thyroid. I agree with Cindy on starting a thread about his Cushing's. I'm always amazed at the great ideas & knowledge people come up with on YT.

So Sonny will be staying with his current foster mom, just under YHR's care?

Yes, she is keeping him for now. She cannot keep him long term, so hopefully my numbers will decrease soon and I can take him or someone else will be able to. Who knows, we might find him a perfect forever home before that! :)

Well once you post him on YHR make sure you talk about how he wrapped his paws around your arm and didn't want to let go....I started crying on that one. I had one of my rescue's do that and she stayed with me...I didn't realize dogs could do that and it just melted my heart.

He is a sweety. Hugs and loves people. She said he is just a happy go lucky pup! I will hear something probably today about what we are going to do with regards to treatment.

Sonny update:

Sonny is now officially a YHR pupster. He has been started on meds for Cushings. His hair is coming back in.

I know some of you want to follow him, so he is now there! He does not yet have a bio....but he will soon!

Thank you for the Sonny update. So glad he has a diagnosis and is getting medicine. What a good sign, that his hair is growing back. Can't wait to see the profile.

He looks great! you can see a difference in his coat already! A yorkie that gives hugs! I just might need to come squeeze him and see for myself! What size is he? Does he need anything to keep him warm during this cold season, that really is not so cold:rolleyes:? Let me know!

He is 9 pounds I think? Maybe 10? Not huge, but not tiny. I am guessing about a medium? I don't know if he needs any clothing...not sure if his foster mom would dress him. Thank you for thinking of him!
He was neutered yesterday and had a dental and all went very well! :)

They have started him out on Anipryl. We will see how that works. The only way to know is by waiting and doing blood work again. There are other meds that can be tried if Anipryl does not work. They said the cost for that med is around $80/month. I asked them to let me know how much the other meds are so we can have some kind of idea about possible future cost for anyone interested in adopting him.

I am just so relieved to see him looking so good! He is such a lovable guy..and very happy go lucky!

Yes, it is! Whenever I get disgusted by some of the things I see, I remind myself of all of the wonderful people who support rescue! None of what is done would be possible if not for them!!

God Bless all of those that had a hand in helping this little guy. You all are amazing and I am very proud to be a member of such a loving and caring group of people.
He is a very lucky boy to have so many people care so much about him.
I truly hope he has a wonderful and loving life from here on out.
I hope we will be able to keep updated on his progress.

Good to know! Well if she is interested in maybe having a sweater for him I will send one, our high is 80 today but it can get a little cold here in the winter!

I hope his next rounds of labs prove to be a success, he deserves a break!

Sunny D update. He is doing well and on his second month of meds for Cushings. We have not done any further lab testing yet, but he is looking great and his hair is growing back!
I am working on bringing him to my home for Christmas. Should have this worked out tomorrow I hope! :)

Oh, I am so happy to hear such a positive update on Sunny D. So glad he is growing hair, too. Yippee! :D
