| I just called the shelter and the girl is tiny, pregnant and heartworm possitive. They notified a rescue called united yorkshire kingdom and network rescue. She said no from the rescue have come by and she is ready to go. Any advise. I'm going to call my vet now. |

| Funny, I spoke with a lady and she said come and get her. I also have a call in to my vet to see if they can vet her. What do you think? |

| IRS Search Here's a link to the IRS search screen for charitable organizations. I found both United Yorkie Rescue (Ohio) and Yorkshire Terrier Rescue Network (NC). I did NOT find United Yorkshire Kingdom. Search for Charities, Online Version of Publication 78 Last edited by Peabody; 08-03-2009 at 11:48 AM. |

I just faxed our paperwork to the shelter and Baxter'sMommy is on her way to pick up the female. I did not know about the male until now. We really do not have room for him now (really stretching it taking n the female)....but, we can all network and see what we can do later on. I want to make sure this female does not end up in the wrong hands.

| Baxtersmommy has her, she is safe. Heartworm positive and pregnant and about 5 to 6 lbs. We are waiting to hear back from vets in our area that would help us treat her. Baxtersmommy told me her teeth were chatting when she picked her up. Poor baby. Thanks Linda for your work. Well here she is .....yorkie haven pup.jpg |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | OK. I can finally take a breather! haha I got to the shelter today at noon and saw the female and asked about her. They said, "she is sick, you don't want her besides a rescue is coming to get her." I said, "I didnt ask if she was sick, I asked if I could adopt her." They told me I couldn't So, I left it at that. Thankfully we were persistent to find that she was available to a valid rescue. Thanks for faxing the paperwork LadyJane, that really does help!!! I would have left with her at noon today if they would have let me. As soon as I got there they recognized me and said, "You were just here." (well duh!) She is absolutely precious! The sweetest little girl. YES, she definitely needs her teeth cleaned, but I didn't see any missing, so that is good. I got her home and put together an xl wire crate that we have in our garage (for times like this) so she is now in our puppy play room. We don't have kids, just our furrbabies, so one room in the house is for them. I do feel bad because I am keeping her separate from the others until I know her health condition. However, she does look very content with her blankey and toys. She doesn't bark, she is just a precious little girl. She also jumps and plays, doesn't act like she feels bad. Im not sure what the vet bill would cost, but I could certainly see me falling head over hills with this one. It was such a great feeling saving her & I am going to try to get the boy tomorrow. Thanks for trusting me to help LadyJane! We have 3 calls in to Vets to see if they will help us with a discount. Last edited by BaxtersMommy; 08-03-2009 at 03:25 PM. |

| A big thank you to those who worked so diligently to get these dogs taken care of today. What scares me about the pregnant female, is what kind of puppies is she carrying. Hopefully not from a larger dog so it will hurt her to give birth. Do the heart worms pass to the babies? Please keep us posted about this and if the vets are going to give you some assistance.

As to the question about heartworms, the microfilaria (baby heartworms that are found in the blood) can pass to the puppies, but they cannot turn into adult heartworms. They must go through a mosquito first. The puppies will be ok later on when they are put on heartworm preventatives. That will kill the microfilaria that they may have.
