| Now I am going to jump into this and you all might not like what I am going to say but I really need to get this out.......... I truly do not understand why everyone is scrambling to take these two particular dogs? This is the RESCUE forum and most of the people posting to this thread do not even normally post here. So to me this is not a rescue but a fight about 2 FREE dogs. There are plenty of Yorkies that need to be rescued. Pick one and make a real difference instead of arguing about who should get these two! Right now in this forum there are dogs that might DIE because they do not have a home and you are arguing if the OP should allow a Yorkie Train to take them across the country to NM! This is crazy! Here are a whole list of Yorkies in the NM area that are in rescues and need homes. I think it is wonderful that everyone is willing to stand up and say that Mitzis Mom is a great home so maybe she will consider a real rescue instead. There are so many in need and in real danger of death! No need to form a train and take these two across the country: Yorkie, Las Cruces, NM: Adoptable Pets: Petfinder When I was looking for help with a train just across Indiana to pick up Truman it wasn't even possible to put together. I drove there myself 500 miles each way. I would bet that without even looking at any of the other dogs that have been posted in the RESCUE forum most are just coming back to this thread to argue about these two free yorkies. I just don't understand it at all. You all need to take a step back and look around you and see what is going on. When I saw this thread originally in the General Forum I posted and offered to help. I never got a response back from the OPer. I also cautioned that these 2 little guys were UNALTERED and that they are being offered for free. I knew this would turn into a circus. To the OP, my offer and suggestion still stand. I would be more that wiling to help you place them into a Yorkie Rescue who would rehome them without all of this arguing. Rescues fully screen applicants and then place the dogs after they have been spayed/neutered. There is no guessing who would make the best home because each applicant is fully checked out. This is very sad to see in the rescue forum when so many are dying.

| Hi Byron. First let me commend you on really searching for the right home. Making them your first priority. If I could make a couple of suggestions. The first suggestion would be to have them both neutered if they aren't already. A good reason for this is that no matter how good a home seems you just never know down the road what will happen and based on your posts I know that you would never want your boys to end up in a puppymill as a breeder dogs. There are a lot of very underhanded people that come out of the wood work when they see "Free." Remember, a good con man will know what to say and do to get what he or she wants. The second suggestion I would make is to draw up a contract with the home that takes the boys and have it notorized. I would word it with something like if you are not happy with the care the boys are getting you have a right to take them back and also put in there that if for any reason that home cannot keep them that you have get them back, this way they don't end up sold to another home. I would also check out their vet references as well as personal references and do a home check to see the environment they are living in. Just a few suggestions. Elaine (Mom to five rescues) |

| P.S. Megan'smom (Jody) is very right in her post. My first reccomendation would be to place the boys with a reputable rescue because as she said they are skilled and will do a very thorough screening on families interested. Also, they will have the boys neutered to ensure they will not end up as breeders. This would be my first reccomendation, but if you are only interested in placing them yourself then please think about my suggestions. Elaine Last edited by jrsygal37; 03-12-2009 at 07:47 AM. |

| Yes, I could really feel the love... not. Seriously, I could feel the love for the breed and some nice users were able to feel my pain and were understanding and helpful. Most, however, were harsh, rude and totally out of touch with reality, suggesting that I should look for another job so that I could spend more time with my boys, questioning my screening process for my wife, as if that were any of their business and even suggesting that my marriage is due to fail at almost any moment because of this decision and that I should get rid of my wife rather than the dogs. Most of these responses were not in good fun but were totally serious. Some were responses here and some were private emails. I never dreamed when I created the original post that this would turn into such a circus and bring out people that are so totally out of touch with reality. I certainly apologize creating this circus and ask the moderator to lock and/or delete this thread immediately and put a stop to this insanity. I have a found a good and loving home for Jackson & Bear with a very generous YT member that was looking for a boy or two. We've emailed and spoken. I've spent a lot of time thinking and praying on this decision and I really feel this is the best possible option for my boys and that they will be very happy with her. To everyone else, to all the busybody's not interested in helping in any way, but wanting to insult me, pick apart my personal life and my decisions, please go back to your lives and find something more productive to do with yourselves. Thank you to everyone that gave advice or assistance and showed me your support. It is much appreciated. Sincerely, - Byron Followell |
