| Very very sad indeed! I completely understand where your feelings are coming from. It is just unbelievable that this is happening. I saw on the ASPCA site where dogs were being sent to foreign countries packed in cages with bands around their mouths..............why? To be sold to butchers to be killed and sold to restaurants to be served to its patrons. That made me ill as well. Very sad world when the innocent and defenseless are harmed rather than cared for.

As a child a lot of what I learned about how to treat people and how to be a responsible person came from learning to take care of my childhood dog...Learning to be gentle with her, learning not to strike her and to be patient, learning how to be responsible by feeding and walking her and helping to give her baths, learning that we treat those we love with care and concern for there feelings, learning to be loyal...I learned these things just by having a dog, and my parents showing me the value in treating her well! I cannot imagine the things the children around there are learning when they are taught it is okay to bury dogs alive, to starve them, etc...First this sort of thing starts with animals, then people get desensitized and before you know it they ignore the suffering of other human beings! This makes me both sad and outraged!

I just couldnt read the whole story, it makes me sick to read about cruelty, but wont shut my eyes for it, because i darn well know all too well it happens all over the world. I wish those people that mistreat animals in any way, would get locked up for life.

| THis story completely horrifies me on two levels. First of all, the fact that ANYONE could do that to an animal is beyond me. My dogs are as important as my skin kids to me. I cannot even fathom a person being so flippant with another life. Secondly, the fact that I am Puerto Rican, horrifies me that my people could stoop to such shameful acts. It's embarrasing. Let me say that there are many in PR who struggle daily to take care of the discarded and abused animals of the island, and do it humanely. This whole story, as embarrasing and horrifying as it is, is in a way, a boon for the overburdened rescue groups of PR. It draws attention to a very grave problem.
