THis story completely horrifies me on two levels. First of all, the fact that ANYONE could do that to an animal is beyond me. My dogs are as important as my skin kids to me. I cannot even fathom a person being so flippant with another life. Secondly, the fact that I am Puerto Rican, horrifies me that my people could stoop to such shameful acts. It's embarrasing. Let me say that there are many in
PR who struggle daily to take care of the discarded and abused animals of the island, and do it humanely. This whole story, as embarrasing and horrifying as it is, is in a way, a boon for the overburdened rescue groups of
PR. It draws attention to a very grave problem.
