| I have to get a crate now Hi, My puppy will be coming home in a couple weeks and I got to get a crate. I have about everything I need but that. My breeder said a medium size crate. She has a small one she don't really use she said I can have but she said I might need a medium when she grows some and to give room for her bed and all. Do you think I could do ok with the small one she said I can have or should I get a medium anyway for her while she is a puppy? Also I got one of those automatic feeders do any of you use them? I thought I would use it for water and a bowl for food. My breeder said to make sure I could see how much she really eats every day and the automatic one would be hard to tell how much she took in. | I would take the small crate. If you're going to crate train they only need room to stand and turn around and lie down. Some put a pee pad in the crate, but to me that just teaches them to go in the crate. As for automatic feeders, I've not had any experince with them. I give my babies fresh water every 3 - 4 hours so I'll probably stick witht the bowls. Congratulations on your new addition.

| I got an xen rather than a large crate and it gave them room to move around a bit. I started with a small crate though

| I have a small crate for Maddie because I'm crate training her and its going great. I do use a water bottle feeder and I love it. It keeps there face nice and dry. I took Maddie no time to catch one. You just have to make sure they are getting enough water so dont buy a hamster etc one. Buy one bigger one made for small dogs for rabbits. The hamster, etc ones are too small and they wont get enough water. If you do this route, then try to find one with the double balls and it wont leak. |

| definitely a small crate... the small ones fit dogs up to 10 pounds comfortably, and your yorkie most likely will not get that big- and even that size, I have a stuffed animal and blanket in there for Schatzi, and she has plenty of room (she's 2.4 lbs, 12 weeks old).
