| Toothpaste? What toothpaste is good for our yorkies? I bought toothpaste and a tooth brush from Wal-marts pet section, but I am not too comfortable with Wal-marts products, so I am going to look somewhere else.... what do you guys use for your dog? |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I use Petrodex poultry flavor. To be honest, I'm not sure how healthy it is. He loves the taste, and I'm banking on it being better than nothing. You can buy it at most pet stores. Someone else suggested that Petrodex makes a peanut flavor that she believed was healthier than poultry. I've never tried it.

| toothpaste I use Petrodex Enzymatic poultry flavored and squeeze it in her Everlasting Treat Ball that she chews on. The Vet says her teeth look great.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | I bought the Petzlife since I saw so many of the posts on YT that it was good, so I got the salmon flavor one and Izzy hates it.....I might try the regular though but I hate to spend another $25 just to find out she hates that flavor too...I only used a tiny drop of the salmon too. My vet gave me one by C.E.T. (Virbac) in the poultry flavor and Izzy likes that one. I got that from my vet directly and it wasn't that expensive...under $10 I think. Now is the challenge of me getting the toothbrush into Izzy's mouth...she wiggles too much..I just let her play with the toothbrush and chew on it - I know she is only getting the flavor off the toothbrush but at least it's a start. For thos of you toothbrushing experts out there....how long did it take for your Yorkie to let you actually brush their teeth?

| My Teddy likes C.E.T. by virbac..not very expensive from the vet. I have tried other flavors but he only likes poultry. I started using a finger brush..the little plastic thing that slips over your finger and has little soft brush like protrusions on it. Once he got used to that I gradually introduced a child's soft tooth brush. It took him about a month to start accepting the tooth brush. Now all I have to say is "brush teeth" and he comes running! Visitors really get a kick out of seeing him let me brush his teeth and you can be sure he enjoys showing off!

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Thanks Tracy, Izzy and Luna - what a great idea and then I won't feel so bad about the $$$. I tried the green finger toothbrush but Izzy's mouth is so tiny that it's too big so I'm just practicing on the small toothbrush.

| I sell Petzlife too! I just got it in. I've used it for 6 months or so now and I'm happy with it. We started with the petrodex stuff too and just had a funny feeling about it. I started brushing Loki's teeth when he was a puppy. He squirms a little, but it's one of those "OK Mom if you have to" kind of things like cleaning eyeboogers. He knows the process only lasts a minute if he sits still. Sammy is a better candidate for the spray. She will not sit still long enough to brush her teeth when I'm in a hurry. I take my time once a week or so and BRUSH her teeth, otherwise getting the spray or gel inside her mouth is a big enough challenge that we let it go at that. She is slowly getting better... Here's the link. Use code YTAUGUST for 10% off.

| We use CET Vanilla Mint flavor (it smells like rootbeer floats). Ellie doesn't mind the taste. It is hard to find online. We get it from the vet.
