| unconventional grooming tools Since Cody is so young (9 weeks) I found it hard to believe that brushing him with a slicker or metal comb would be anything but miserable, so I looked for some unconventional methods. I just bought a baby brush and comb set (American Red Cross at Target) and he absolutely loves it. I only use a cheap puppy shampoo, but since I've started using the baby brush and comb his coat has really started to shine! I'm not sure it would work as well on adult hair, but for puppy hair, it's great! |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Can't knock it if it works. I definitely need a slicker with lulu because she gets tangles. It would be nice to be able to use a baby brush and comb her out.

| Slicker brushes are generally used only when they lose the puppy fur and get the adult coat. It pulls up the "cotton" undercoat that matts so easily and brushes it out. It's perfect for getting those matts out. For the puppy coat I always used the boars bristle brush. |

No Longer a Member | I just recently purchased a Chris Christensen brush, and I love it. They aren't cheap though. Chloe doesn't mat, but her ponytail sometimes does--I think I need to get the silicon rubber bands (silicon rubber = oxymoron? ). But the CC brush really gets through it without pulling out her hair. |

| I use a boar bristle brush on Mojo and a wide tooth stainless steel comb and those work great! Lily Grace has much longer hair that is more silky and thin, the boar bristle works well on it.
