No way in hell was I overreacting lol I have a major (cry-uncontrollably-when-they-come-near-me) spider phobia & cockroaches are WAY bigger & WAY grosser! Honestly, I would have rather seen the rat...I have absolutely no tolerance of big old bugs I grew up in the foothills in North Carolina and there were roaches there, of course, but mainly there were these BIG flying Japanese beetle things w/ pinchers (they looked like roaches with big old pinchers on their heads) and I could hardly go outside in the summer time when those things were around! Absolutely terrified of spiders, though.

They do have them on the east coast girl - I don't want to give you nightmares but I was in New York in a tunnel once and saw tons of monster roaches But PuppyLovinNurse- you didn't have to throw out your stuff ..unless it was edible I wouldn't have done that - they really can't hurt anything. It's very possible the critter snuck a ride in the box or was just hiding in the folds - any of us could have done the same thing when using cardboard boxes....they're very good at hiding. | |

| No Longer a Member | LOL V, Count me in with the woosies! The last time I saw one was at the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It was just getting dark, and we were going over a bridge over the river. I stopped along the brick wall to set my purse down and look for some eyedrops. Out from in between the rocks crawled this 3.5" (or was it 3.75"?) cockroach . It tried to get in my purse! Had that happened, I really woulda died.Just died. |

| Okay, although I say the OP may have "overreacted" by throwing away the items from the package, that was said in a teasing manner. I remembered an incident with a roach that happened to me that I just have to tell to show that I'm not a "roach lover"! At our old house, there was always construction going on around us (new subdivision) so we would see critters that would get displaced from the empty lots. Well, one time I was in the kids' bathroom (pretty small area) and I saw a roach... actually a waterbug thing (like a roach but much bigger I think - at least that's how I understand the difference). Well, this thing was between me and the doorway. The only thing in the room that I could try to kill it with was my husband's size 12 tennis shoe. I grabbed it and swung (it was on the floor) and when I did, the dang thing jumped up and came right at me. I screamed like a "girl" and hopped around like an idiot. Our poodle came running screaming and yapping thinking his mommy was being attacked. It took both of us quite a while to calm down from that trauma!

| i agree it bugs and stuff are not a big deal down here. i mean its so hot down here that when we get rain they come pouring out. now i dont believe in having them in your house but like spiders and water roaches it does happen and they look just like cockroaches . i wouldnt be upset if just one came out of the box because if she had her house infested with cockroaches there would have been hundreds of tiny ones coming out of it not just one big one. just wanted to let you know that. sorry that this happened but things happen and we live on. |
