| You're right. I bought some just the other day. I think they have them year round. But the colors do change. Sometimes there are bright colors and other times there are prints and stuff like that. Thanks for the heads up though. I will go and see if they have the pastels.

| walmart Well walmart is re-organizing and they are making a huge mistake. They have a new CEO and he came from Target!! I think he is wanting to turn Walmart into Target they are doing away with all fabric and that makes me mad. I live in a rural area and there is nowhere to get fabric around except at walmart and they are 22 miles away from me at that. The nearest Joan's is 110 miles from me. I buy alot of my prints online but get all my lining materials at walmart! I think he will probably bring in alot of pet clothing like Target has. I just wish they would fire him actually and keep Sam's plans into effect. They are trying to upscale like Sears did but that was sears downfall they weren't nearly as successful after they went upscale. I would love for everyone to call 1800walmart and tell them to keep the fabric section in your area. There has been a large number of complaints but he obviously doesn't care but it still doesn't hurt. He could bring in the pet line and i think he will. He is also taking the guns and ammo out of the sporting section. Melinda Sassy-Petwear |

| i always saw the fabric department as a big waste of space, too so i was so glad when i found out they were getting rid of it! we have a super walmart here and the entire store - like many others - has been going through a huge makeover and it looks so much nicer. guns and ammo can go,too! we have a large surplus city store across the street from our walmart and it has the all the guns and hunting supplies anyone would want. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | If they were smart they would do it demographically. If you have a store in an area where there is a ton of fabric stores then you can do away with the section becuase it won't make money but in some instances they can make a ton of money. It's a hard situation because most people just go for store made items and can't sew worth a dang.

| I'll have to look for those! I like Target's line and had wished that Walmart had better stuff. Did buy Calliope a cute little black and white polka dot on pink color last week -too cute. They had the pretty brown and blue combo too. Thinking I might get one of those as well. Sold my WalMart stock. It just wasn't growing like it was when I bought it. More money in IRA's and bonds right now.

| I can assure you that Wal-Mart does not have a new CEO. It is still Lee Scott and I know this first hand. And as far as the redesigning, they are a business. If they are not selling enough fabrics and crafts then there is no need to have them in the store. It is not a surprising thing. I guess it also depends on the area. Regardless, No one is trying to make Walmart like Target. In fact, I happen to know that it is Wal-marts goal to have similar things at a much lower price as they are about having a vast variety of items for people of all economic classes. Target caters more to upper middle and upper class.

| wow didn't know i would offend some people!!! Quote:
I know the CEO is from Target and i don't know how new he is but it has been in the local papers so if i am mistaken then it is the local news medias problem not mine. Anyway i stiill think he is making a huge mistake because the fabric departments make a huge amount of money in our area!! They make as much as the electronic section and i sewing is coming back. The children in high school now are starting to sew again! Again sorry to have offended you but Sam had a vision and it is being destroyed by greed. Melinda

| Melinda, I wasn't trying to be rude. I didn't say I was happy about them getting rid of the fabrics and crafts. I happen to rely on them for those items too. I was just pointing out that they are a business, and that really there is little we can do to change the dynamic of the business world. I'm sorry if you thought I was being rude. I read my reply and I didn't think it was rude. I'm not the one I said it was a waste of space by the way. Here's a small bio to prove that Lee Scott has been a loyal employee of Walmart Stores Inc. http://walmartstores.com/GlobalWMSto...=540&contId=17 Again I'm not trying to be rude. Just pointing out facts. Although it's sad, there are some stores that are getting rid of some things and adding others. By the way, Walmart is bringing in new items for pets and making it so that they are affordable for everyone. They already have new soft sided carriers, a lot of clothes and hair accessories. Well just so we're clear. I'm sorry if you thought I was being rude. It was not my intention.

| The Wal-Mart here in my town is keeping the material department. As for cute little bows and clips for the hair, I buy them in the infants department, and they are way less than the dog bows. I also make my own bows sometimes. |

| it wasn't you Quote:
The lady that said i know first hand that he has been there might have some pull then on the situation and tell him to reconsider and do it by demographic areas. Thanks and again i wasn't referring to you being rude earlier read the message lower and you will see what i was referring to it was like she said fabric was an eye sore and the place looks much nicer without it. I wonder if she buys pet clothing? Without fabric there wouldn't be any. Melinda
