| Insurance Company Paid me over $2,000 !!! I know there's been several threads and posts about "To Get or Not To Get Pet Insurance" I got a check in the amount of $2,195.71 today form Veterinay Pet Insurance today. The claim I submitted was for $2,855.55. This was the last claim I filed for the emergency care Jewel received. The bill was big but we would have paid ten times that amount if Jewel would have survived. For anyone with any doubts GET IT! You never know what type of emergency you and your baby may face. In the year Jewel was sick, we paid close to $10,000 to her various doctors and VPI reimbursed us for about 60% of it. We were fortunate we had her & Jazzie covered. It gave us the financial means to keep her with us a little longer and not have to put her to sleep because we couldn't afford her treatments. My all your babies be Safe, Warm & Loved.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | thank you! that really helps me out, I really want to have Lillie covered, you just never know. now even if I would have had Kloey covered it would not have mattered, she was gone before I even had a chance to rush her to the hospital, it sickens me even thinking about it cause I swear that woman had to have been going 60 mph, my daughter said she screeched her tires, we live on an emergency road and the speed limit is 30, if she would have been going that speed she should have been able to see Kloey. That woman never even told me she was sorry. |

| Thanks SO much for this post! I've been considering it for months now but always thought "Why bother - My babies are seemingly healthy, still young and the insurance probably won't pay for much of anything!" I'm definately going to get it now! |

| Insuranace What company do you use? This is great advise. We don't realize how much care for our pets can cost. I found this out recently with our neighbors' dog. We were taking care of her (11 yr old Sheperd) while they were on vacation. The dog had been recently diagnosed with a serious illness and they didn't want to kennel her so we were giving her her meds and taking her to Vet appointments etc...(hubby is a Vet. Tech. thank goodness!). Anyway, the dog wouldn't get up one evening when I went to let her out and we had to take her to the emergecy clinic. She was going to need a blood transfusion and for 2 units of blood, fludids and general care the owners were looking at at least $1200.00 in expenses! That was an eye opener for me so I would be interested in pet insurance.

| Can you only go to certain vets if you have this coverage or do all vets take this insurance?

| I use Veterinary Pet Insurance. www.petinsurance.com. VPI will cover bills from any vet. You will need to pay all bills up front with your doctor. Have the Dr. complete their portion of the claim form then Fax or Mail in the claim with a copy of the medical bill. It usually takes about 4-6 weeks until you receive a check or a letter explaining if the treatment is not covered. I've only receive a decline 3 times but with a phone call, one was refiled and I did get my check. The other two times were declined because I exceeded the allowable return on that particular claim for Annual Physical & Preventative Dental Care. Out side of that I usually get 40% to 60% back on the claims filed. I selected the premium package which includes vaccinations. Costs depends on the age of the pet. Jewel (3 yrs) was $ 28.00 a month and Jazzie (8 yr) is $34.00. They also give multiple pet discount if you have insurance on more than one pet. This plan only works if YOU FILE THE CLAIM.
