| Stinky puppy My Yorkie, Sugar, has an odor issue. Hours after I bathe her she smells like she's in need of a bath again. Is this a symptom of something? She's new to me. I rescued her and she is my first house dog. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | What are you using and how old is she ? For puppies I used to use Puppy Tearless Baby Shampoo and they smelled like little babies - I still use it on my Cheri's face.... |

| I actually had this problem with my mutt doggy. He went to the vet last week for his checkup and the vet said it was his anal sacs... They took care of that and Frank no longer smells like a foot, even right after a bath. The vet said usually the odor is much worse when they are full...He described it as a rotting fish smell.. Hope this helped. Brenda

| Sometimes, a body odor comes from the food they are eating. One of my girls developed a body odor, after eating lamb for awhile. |

| Stinky She's eating a chicken based food. The food smells decent and she adores it. I have a friend who feeds her puppy the same thing and he doesn't have the issue so I'm gonna assume it isn't the food. As far as the anal sacs, I'll try that. I had someone mention that earlier today..up til then I didn't know anything about it! She's my first house dog and I'm learning. I rescued Sugar...she was wandering the streets when she was found. She has obvioulsy been abused. The vet says he would estimate her at about 3 years old. |

| Sugar Here's some pics...isn't she lovely Being a fairly new yorkie mommy I'm learning a lot and appreciate the input and knowledge you guys have! I think and hope *fingers crossed* that I've found a groomer. She has an appointment for Wednesday. After her ears are cleaned and her anal sacs are done I'll take it from there. I'm bathing her every 2-3 days because she's having such bad body odor. I just bathed her tonight in Johnson & Johnsons detangling shampoo and by tomorrow she'll be smelling like she could use another. I know that is just too much on her...and me too! I have no idea how to do the anal sacs so I'm leaving that to the groomer...I don't wanna hurt her. She has agreed to show me how to do it tho. |

| She is beautiful! Just so you know even though I do all my own grooming I leave the anal cleaning up to my vet and most members let their groomers do it as you could hurt your little one if you don't do it right. Has a vet checked her mouth? Bathing is every 2 or 3 days could really dry out her skin so I hope you can get to the bottom of this.

| Actually you can get a shampoo by Hartz. It's called Living Groomer's Best Puppy Shampoo. It comes in a purple topped bottle and says 'tearless formula, extra gentle, cleans & conditons'. I bought it at Wal-Mart for like $3 or $4. It smells decent and Sugar didn't mind it when I was using it. BUT what I was using tonight was Johnson & Johnson baby detangling shampoo. I also used the no more tears detangling spray. I was told it worked well and believe me it does. She is sooo soft now and there wasn't a fight brushing her after her bath. |

| I wanted to say that you have a beautiful baby there! That is wonderful for you to rescue her. Yorkies are not supposed to put of bad odors, like other dogs usually do. Until you get the anal sac's cleaned I would try to find a shampoo that specializes in strong odors, magic coat makes one. But again, don't over bath her. Good luck! |
