| Pita loves her bed and her best friend OP who is an 8 pound chihuahua stands on it and it is sturdy but he doesn't fit very well to lay on it. Once I got it together I really like it but it comes with lil tiny screws to put it together with so that makes it tricky but it has held up great. It was a bargain! |

| I don't have this bed, but I thought it was a good deal for 27.45, there are bigger sizes available for more money. Compared to other prices I have seen for wooden beds it was comparably cheap! http://www.dog.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=101551+021&Cat= |

| Canopy Beds It's interesting how the picture you posted looks very similar to the beds found at: http://www.bedsfordogsandcats.com/ Not the same...but similar. I think these beds are gorgeous on www.bedsfordogsandcats.com and yes, you do get what you pay for! |

| Retail Price You can purchase it on the designers website for $339.00; but I suggest supporting your local retailer. Quote:

| Pita is just as happy on her $15 bed as she would be on a $300+ bed. It may not be as flashy but thats $300 more I can spend on other stuff for her! |

| I agree. I wouldn't buy my dogs a $300 bed for the simple reason that they eat on their bed and get food stains on it. Plus, sometimes a little poop will stick to their butts (always happens to my Codie) and then their bed will get a poop stain. The 2 beds they have now are machine washable and looks awesome. They were both around $90 each. I would love to invest in a good quality fluffy mattress type of bed but it has to have a top cover that is machine washable or it's a no go. One of my friends bought an EXPENSIVE dog bed that was NOT machine washable and the bed got totally ruined after 1 month. To me, that's a waste of money.

| I apologize for bump..just my two cents. My thoughts would be don't bother with a posh bed. The problem with dog beds is that however "nice" they are, they get smelly over time, so you either need something that can be washed (the whole thing, not just a cover, if it's not waterproof - the filling retains the smell as well), or you have to resign yourself to replacing the bed frequently. I have a fab bed for my dog (who is a chewer, and also a mud-monster) which is made from tough, waterproof rucksack fabric. It is great, because the foam inner is protected from the smell by the waterproof fabric, so I just change between two outer covers for washing, and her bed smells acceptable to humans! It's the lowest maintenance and longest-lasting bed I've ever found. FWIW, I found memory foam a disaster for smelliness, and even the polystyrene beans in an old beanbag that my mad greyhound adored got really smelly. Rather than spending all that money on a bed, I would put the money in a pot (assuming that you just want to spend it on your dog, and that is your priority for it) - and buy an occasional new toy/training treat/bone, or even buy a year's membership of somewhere you like to take her - I think it would be more fun, and more appreciated by you both __________________________________________________ ______ Life decreases in direct proportion to the force of desire. |
