| Thank goodness he is doing so much better - he will find a good forever home l'm sure. I just hope the economies of the world pick up as when people face financial hardship it's always the animals that suffer. We have had to make changes in our life but the living always takes precedence when it come to spending. We always buy the pet food first before our own an if l have to cut down on stuff so be it. If anyone is facing hardship and can't pay for their animals - they must think of whats best for their pet and just take them to a place of safety like the vets or no kill centres. Its better to part from your pet than to let it suffer because you can't look after it any more. Someone out there will give them a good forever home. Also lets stop all this breeding when there are so many unwanted animals. Spay and neuter is the way to go.

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | Bless his little heart. You know I think because there are so many people breeding yorkies just to breed and not trying to improve the breed, that people buy these dogs when theyre cute and cudly then when they turn out a bit big, or floppy eared or sickly then they dont want them because theyre not true to the breed (what they have pictured in their minds), then dump them. It is just heartbreaking. |

| Sad I cannot believe anyone would do this to this extent. I know how rough it is because I am a senior, I live alone and am struggling to make it with my little shop on Etsy/Artfire. I have 3 yorkies, and although I am unemployed, my Yorkies get better food/care than I do. So I frankly don't understand the neglect with these economic times. The house I was renting was put in foreclosure and I have to move, I have many problems that have faced me over the past year, but never once have my animals ever suffered. They are by my side, sleep on my bed, are warm, fed better than I am and want for nothing. So, why is this? I don't understand, because if I can still take care of my animals in times of great adversity, why cannot others. I love my babies and would never once consider to be without them. You have to make it happen. To me it is a choice, think about it... just how much food does a dog eat? There are ways to get care. It is a conscious choice we make. I would find a home first before abandoning and allowing their nails to grow in their paw (which takes time)... there are no excuses. None!! |

| Totally agree with you Linda and Tiny there is no excuse. A lot of people think it is fine to just mate any Yorkie and so there are many varieties out there. Also being such a small dog l think some people take advantage and breed from them as they don't eat much and don't take up a lot of room compared to a Rottweiler for example. I would rather re home my babies if l couldn't afford to look after them which would break my heart than let them slowly suffer. Even the economic climate is tough at the moment - the pets all come before DH and myself as they are our furbabies

| Loving a Yorkie! Well, I am 67 and if it ever became too much for me to care for them (I would have to be entirely disabled), I would find homes for them. I was discussing this thread with another dog lover yesterday and we both agreed that there is no excuse to abandon your pets during these economic time, .... simply an excuse. Granted the pressures may become hard on folks, but our fur babies give us comfort, they understand, they don't demand much, they just want to love and be loved, and with that said, neglect of an animal should be one of the ten commandments. It hurts to know someone would really use that as an excuse to abandon, neglect, abuse a pet. They most likely would do that in a thriving economy. |
