Well, I am 67 and if it ever became too much for me to care for them (I would have to be entirely disabled), I would find homes for them. I was discussing this thread with another dog lover yesterday and we both agreed that there is no excuse to abandon your pets during these economic time, .... simply an excuse. Granted the pressures may become hard on folks, but our fur babies give us comfort, they understand, they don't demand much, they just want to love and be loved, and with that said, neglect of an animal should be one of the ten commandments. It hurts to know someone would really use that as an excuse to abandon, neglect, abuse a pet. They most likely would do that in a thriving economy.
