OMG that is a fabulous idea, do they do that??? DNA registration??? I would love to have my babies DNA registered even though four of them have tattooes my Sabrina and Blaine have chips, it still would be nice to register their DNA that is a sure thing.

Cry Stolen Yorkie

My Lord how could this have happened?????
In the first place, I thought once a DOG WAS BOUGHT AND GIVEN a microchip....no one can legally change it.
You say they registered ur dog, how was this possible without a contract of ownership???
Unless they drew up their own fake papers and fooled the company that provides the microchipping.... possible, hmmmm????
My heart breaks for you hon.
Believe me I know how you feel.
Last year during Christmas I entrusted my furbaby "Jack" to a friend.
My boyfriend and I were going on a 10 day cruise.
When I returned home there were 4 messages from my vet urgently asking me to call them back ASAP.
I called and Jack's vet said "my so called friend tried to take over ownership," his story was Jack was abandoned.
Thank God my vet was smart enough to know me better and I had all the proper documents proving ownership of Jack..as well as the knowledge of our cruise...
Well the cops got involved and got me my baby back.
I've sinced taken this character to court for fraud and attempted pet abduction.
The judge was appalled by this case and fined the defendant $750 bucks.
Needless to say, since this, I will never leave Jack with anyone but my dad .
UNBELIEVABLE what people you think you know will do.
I've known the person for 3 yrs. It was a co-worker...
I learned a big lesson.
I pray u get your baby back as quick as I did.

I just read this post. I was so devasted that this kind of thing can be done with changing registration of the chip. 2 of my Small Yorkies have been Mico-Chipped with Home-Again. After reading this I went online and the phone as well, to find out if this was their part of their policy to allow this type of registration. Here is a part of the letter I emailed:

Quote:
Dear Home-Again, I just read a story (which is below) and had my two small Yorkies Chipped with your chip. I NO LONGER have the chip tag on their collar. Looks like it is too easy to change the ownership information without consent from the original person who had the chip put in. If this part of your policy to allow this type of reistration You should SERIOUSLY consider looking into changing it, and don't offer collar tags with the # on it, just the Home-Again logo and phone number. The Tag that comes with the chip is sufficient enough for record keeping, but information should be placed on the packaging material stating "Should Not be placed on Pet, KEEP IN A SAFE AND SECURE PLACE for Verification puposes. Just my opinion. Our dogs are not just pets --- but companions and family members. I would be devasted if I was having to go through what this poor woman is going through...... (a copy of the article-story)...... ---Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Treva S, a Home-Again pet owner
Thanks so much Breezeaway for the Enlightment!

Kat
i had a maltese stolen from me by my mom's neighbor while i was on a business trip..they took her from my mom backyard about a week before i was scheduled to come home...and my brothers and sister put up lost dog ads and everything and no responses...well the day i came off the plane i went to my mom house and my 3 year niece was outside playing...and it so happen that the neighbor that live directly in front of my mom was walking sugar...and my niece (keep in mind she was 3 years old) was yelling Sugar name...and my sister turned around and sure enough it was my Sugar...they came inside to tell while another one of sister stood outside...well the lady daughter was like mom you better take her inside...so as i was coming out i sen the mom drag Sugar in to the garage by her collar just as I was calling Sugar name...she was trying to run to me...and they put the garage door..and i ran over there and rang their doorbell...and no answer but i seen Sugar nose poking out of the front window...and pounding on the door...and they act like no one was home although i just seen the mom, the daughter and the grandma run inside...about 30 mins into pounding and ringing the doorbell...my dad pulled and was like what are you doing over there at this time banging on their dog...i said that they had my dog....and he was like are you sure...i was like yes i am possitive...and i was like am going to call the cop and then he was like no because if you accuse wrongly they can turn around and sue you..i was like well if i am right i am going to sue them...but being that my parents came from Vietnam there didn't see that justice would have taken our side since we are minorities...so he would let me...so i went into his house i print out more lost dog ads...and i posted 10 of them on her screen door...3 days later she comes over and tells me that she is sorry that i lost my dog and that she will keep an eye out of my dog...next thing you know...2 weeks later they moved out...and i didn't know much about microchip 10 years ago so i didn't have any proof...

Default that is plain sick...

I was disgusted by these stories about how people have stolen other members' pets. How could anyone be so cruel?

You know what they used to do to horse theves in the old west?

This is terrible...how did the ownership get transfered with out the paperwork?? You would think if someone showed up with a dog who was chipped...and had no paperwork for registration..it would be questioned...ummm stolen dog????
This sounds like a simple case...the person who has all the receipts is obvously the dogs true owner...

God, all these stories are so scary!

This young lady from the OP has a hearing coming up in a week or so on the criminal charges. I'm going to be keeping my eyes wide open for the next part of this story. Meanwhile, if anyone is interested in holding any kind of public protest, I'm happy to participate.

I must say that reading some of these posts has me shocked that so much of this is going on. In the OP the oriiginal owner has proof of ownership, and the thief does not. I don't understand why it even had to go this far. I hope they put the thief in jail for a very long time. This is just so sad and plain wrong!
Please keep us updated!!

Please keep us posted on how this ends and I hope it is a good end for the young lady and she gets her Ivy back.
