My furkids Donating Member | just a question about poop For the past few days Lillie has had some mucus in her poop. It kind of looks like her poop in incased in mucus. (I know this sounds gross) She is eating, drinking and playing like usual. She doesn't seem sick at all. And it's not all her poop.. She poops 2 to 3 little poops at a time and it's only the first one that comes out that is in mucus. And it is soft. not like diareaha just a little softer than the rest of it. Anyone have any idea why this is? thanks everyone! Brenda

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Take a stool sample to your vet. Some vets allow you to bring stool samples without actually brining in the dog. My vet only charged $8 to test the stool.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It could be her anal glands emptying. Is there any red in it? What is she eating? Any recent diet changes. They can get a mucous poop from eating some bizarre thing too - like a piece of toy, or some household thingy. Maybe watch for her next 2 poos and bring one to the vet if there is still mucous. Mucous is from ibd/ibs too, but it probably isnt' that.

My furkids Donating Member | Thanks girls! The only thing I can think of is her soft food....but that was about 4 weeks ago. The store where I buy Canidae didn't have the chicken and rice formula for all stages so I bought the senior formula. But, like I said. that was a while ago and I don't think that would be affecting her now. Do you? I am going to keep an eye on her (poop!) over the weekend...if it continues I will bring a sample to the vet...they are both due for stool samples anyway...She is acting perfectly fine other than the poop...If I didn't see her go I wouldn't have known if it was coming from Lillie or Sadie...Thanks for your responses! Brenda
