| Solid Gold Feeders beedback? I just bought some solid gold for kikko, and the sales lady managed to convince my mom to buy innova evo too (i know its a good brand of food i used to feed the regular one, but i worry about the high protein) so i'm wondering for some feedback from pple who feed solid gold? could i mix it with the EVO? i am trying solid gold b/c someone told me it was good for their skin (that's why i chose their bison and salmon mixture), and kikko had skin problems so i've done everything to prevent it from happening again. any info would be appreciated!! thaaanks! Camly

| I like Solid Gold. There are better foods out there now though. However if your dog likes it and looks good on this food, stick to it. Remember that what works well for one dog doesn't always work well for the next. Yes Solid Gold is a high quality kibble, but it may not work for your pup. And I'd just pitch the Innova altogether. I've had zero positive things occur with any of my dogs or my clients dogs when fed Innova long term. Chronic loose stools being a big culprit. |

YT 3000 Club Member | chester has been on solid gold for awhile and the fact that they have no connection with menu foods and when I called them they called me back and they answered my questions. The evo I think is to high of protein and mixing I dont think would be good. Solid gold does not use sunflower oil because it is supposedly high carcinogenic rate. |

| yea i have had to be REALLY careful on what I feed kikko b/c he has quite the sensitive stomach ... another reason why i am iffy on the EVO. We ran out once and had to use nutro for a bit until I was able to go back and buy better food .. and i immediately saw difference when changing foods. noticed his fur wasn't as soft and silky. yorkiek9trainer: what food do you normally use? I will def. take your advice and try the Solid gold though - hopefully he'll like it. chestermama: how does chester like it? what else did the Solid gold pple say? I can't believe they called you back!!! that's practically unheard of from lots of companies. haha. i swear the 'what kind of dogfood question' comes up so often. I would home cook if i had the time (and knew what I was doing.. i'm a TERRIBLE cook! haha). i've also been curious of a dog food called orijen .. i wish i could find these foods in taiwan, rather than going back home buying it and carrying back. sigh .. the things we do for these guys right? lol.

I really like the results I'm getting w/ all of the dogs I have on Timberwolf's Southwest Chicken. Some of the Timberwolf's products have Sunflower products in it, and for that reason alone I don't purchase them, but the Southwest doesn't and the counts on it are great. Especially if you have a growing large breed puppy. The protein and calorie content isn't high enough for a competition dog, even my little Yorkie(s), and then I have another food I put them on or a supplement powder during the show season. Otherwise I'd suggest it highly. Oh, and Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance is also another GREAT quality food. (I only use the original formula) Last edited by yorkieK9trainer; 09-08-2007 at 08:16 AM. |

| I love Solid Gold! I use the Wee Bits and Barking at the Moon (variety). I just mix them 50 50. They seem to like the variety and since they are made by the same manufactor - the two types are similar. I like that the products are made and bought in the USA and they try to buy close to their area. No by-products. I have had great results. T. |

| I bought the Solid Gold Holistique Blendz for my furbabies about 9 months ago, and they didn't really like it. I think it was the fish meal that they didn't like...
