| Urination from Excitement Okay, I've posted a few months ago about Missy dripping just a bit due to excitement (whenever a family member is home from a long day) Well, lately it has increased.... She's literally urinating a lot... not a tiny drip anymore. I noticed that this happens when she has been home for a while all alone, where she ends up sleeping for a good amount of time. When we get home, You can tell that she has woken up from a good sleep.... So i dunno if her sleeping gathers up a lot of urination into her bladder, that leads her to feel weak in holding it in when we suddenly come up and surprise her, I am worried that something may be wrong. What do you guys think? I just don't like how much it has increased and how frequent it has gotten. It use to be once in a while, so it's worriesome now. She will be going for a check up soon, just want to see your opinion on this. My sister's co-worker has a small breed dog as well, and he would drip a little bit from excitement, so i wasn't worried at the time... but the frequency and the amount is quite concerning. I am calling for an appointment, just wondering what do you guys think that can possibly be causing this and if you have experienced this. She just turned 1 years old just recently. | hi lucy urinates when she gets excited sometimes. I've found the best way to prevent this is to just immediatly take her outside to do her business when I get home. If there is going to be company coming over I put her in her crate for about 10 minutes before they arrive and then take her outside (I take her out a different way than the way the guests are entering) and that has seemed to help a bit. However, she still does it during training class when they have off-leash time I guess all the excitement and running around with the other dogs is too much. I don't know if it should be anything to be alarmed about, my sisters 3-year-old yorkie Bogey, does this, now he only does this when he sees me come in, and he goes a lot not just a little drop, too. But I always say it's better to be safe than sorry and it wouldnt' hurt to talk to your vet about it, if you are concerned.

| Lexi has this problem also big time! Lexi has always been a very hyper dog. She also doesnt bark much...so when she gets excited her whole body just shakes and she just gets so overwhelmed. A friend of mines suggested regulating her water better. And honestly it has made such a HUGE difference! I was leaving water out for my pups allll day. Which for most pups I'm sure is fine, but Lexi will drink water out of boredom (i've witnessed this myself) so I put in just enough for them to stay hydrated and quench their thirst after eating. She has dramatically stopped! I think her bladder just isnt as full and tight when I get home. (i do also take her out immediately, and I dont talk to them or get them excited until after they are outside and have peed) And I then give her some water once she gets back in from her walk. Maybe this may work for you as well?

| Well, I have the same problem actually... Meka is almost 6 mo's and she does it with strangers. If I am not holding her and she's on the floor when someone new comes around - it never fails... Infact I just brought her to work a day ago and I was so frustrated by the end of the day cause she just kept doing it... I dont know why or how we can help them with that. Shes use to the fam, so she wont do it with us.... Im hoping it just a pup thing and that when she's older it will stop... But for now - I make sure she's in my arms at all times when meeting someone new 8)
