Help, double teeth and then it fell out! I have been away from my dog Harlem for at least a month. I noticed yesterday that he has double teeth. There is two teeth right beside each other on both sides. Is this normal? it gets deeper...So today his breath is crazy and I give him a dental bone from Walmart. He loves it and is having a ball. I happened to look at him and noticed that one of the double teeth on one side has fallen out. I am going crazy and can't believe it. I just made his tooth fall out with the bone. I look on the floor and surely, there it is the long sharp tooth laying on the floor. Harlem is still happy and bouncing around and playing as if nothing happened. Is this normal, he is 6 months, was there only double teeth because one of them was supposed to fall out or did I make him loose a tooth? I called the vet and the recpt said she didn't know, dogs loose teeth all the time to bring him in. I don't have money to do that if it's normal! Help

| Sounds like the puppy teeth aren't falling out and the adult ones are coming in which is why you see doubles. Keep giving him chewies and hopefully he can loosen the other ones and not need surgery to get them out

teeth He probably is losting his puppy teeth naturally, which is great...why not get him used to having you brush them..run the brush along the molars to brush off any retained caps..if they are not embedded they will flick off...are you having him neutered..you can have any remaining puppy teeth pulled then..good luck

what! they are supposed to fall out? I guess, I mean, yeah they probably should but he is 6 months now and this is the first time it has happened. Should I be concerned and should I give him the bone back? He seemed to enjoy it but I didn't know that it is really great that it fell out, I thought I hurt him!

I want to have him neutered but I'm scared. I want to do it this week since I am off but don't know. Should I get him a haircut first before neutering?

teeth Dogs have two sets of teeth like humans..and they lose them around 5 to 6 months...give him the chewy bone...don't panic if you see a bit of blood..and it is not the same pain as a human, dogs pay little attention to these things. You can have him clipped and then neutered, teeth and then he is all set..best wishes

Most of the time when they fall out like that, they swallow them. Don't even worry yet about double teeth. you still have time. My guy just lost his last set about three weekss ago. he just turned nine months. he had double front teeth.

| Lily has two sets of teeth, too. She's 8 months and will have them pulled when she gets spayed in a couple weeks. It is very common for Yorkies to have double sets. I wouldn't spend money or waste time on taking him to the groomer. When Riley got neutered I had him groomed before hand. Then he came back to me with a shaved leg because he had an IV. But, now that I think of it, he was also there to get a liver biopsy too so maybe that's why. No...my friend's dog had a shaved leg after his neuter. Anyways, I'd wait on grooming unless he's in desperate need of one because you'll have to wait a little while after his surgery.

teeth Luckily your little guy' teeth fell out on their own..I had to have Puck's removed by the vet. He had a double layer on both the top and bottom! It's completely normal for them to fall out and a lot less painful than having to go to the vet!

i agree not to get him groomed before. they will shave the area they need to get to anyhow. why let them screw up a good groom? if he's 6mo he should be losing some teeth. i didn't even think about what happened to edgar's...i guess he swallowed them!!
