| Fish Oil??? What kind of fish oil does everyone use? Do you prefer regular fish oil, salmon oil or something else? Also which brands are the best and what difference has it made for them. Do you still give them Missing Link with the fish oil? Thanks everyone!!! |

| I have used salmon oil. Ive heard of people using products with cod oil in them for the same purpose. I really like the salmon oil. I didnt use Missing link at the same time because I felt that would be too much suppliment

| I wouldn't give fish oil at the same time as missing link because the missing link already has the omega-3 fatty acids that she would be getting from the fish oil. There's no need. We use regular fish oil for one of our dogs, and it helps

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I get the Omegas/EFAs from a multi that also contains vits, minerals, probiotics and digestive enzymes. LOVE it! http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/produc...at/999065.aspx

| Thanks for all the great info everyone. Do you pour the capsule on their food or do you give it to them in the form of a pill covered in food? |

| If you choose to use some sort of fish oil and get the capsules, pierce the end of it and pour it on their food...I don't think you need to use a whole one though. Maybe 1/4-1/2 is sufficient

| well i am not sure it is essential (althought the name essential oils might make me think otherwise) here is what i know.. i went to a local health food petstore today and said to her.. i'm giving Healthy powder (i told her what it was) omega 3 and 6, fish oil, vitamin E and Glucoasmine CH. i said.. is there anything i am missing.. she said.. you are doing a great job and it sounds like you've covered everything. she says the Kelp powder that is in the HP is the BEST thing you can be giving. so maybe if i were you i'd start with a Omega 3/6 capsule. i just open it and put about 3-5 drops on her food... but she only gets that every 4th day as we rotate between the things i just mentioned... it won't hurt and will only help. The Glucosamine is more for joints and stuff but still great stuff... the vitamin E is great too... really they are all helpful it's jsut a matter of how much you want to do. SHe said she woudln't suggest i give a multivitamin because it sounds like everything is getting covered in the right amounts right now. PM me if you want more info bella! |

| I have read that Cod Liver Oil is the WORST to give to dogs. It doesn't really have that much of Omega 3 (as compared to others)...and... Fish Oil And Cod Liver Oil--Not The Same? No. Fish either store fats in their bodies (salmon, mackerel, menhaden, sardines, tuna) or in their livers (cod). Because fish also store Vitamins A & D in their livers, if a supplement contains fish liver oil, it will also contain high concentrations of Vitamins A & D. Avoid over-supplementing with fish liver oils because excess Vitamins A & D are harmful. Supplementing with whole body fish oils prevents accidentally overdosing a pet with fat-soluble Vitamins A & D. Last edited by TLC; 08-09-2007 at 07:55 AM. |
