| That's my whole thing......I'm good for the money.... Just PLEASE let me make payments. Even if it's just for 2 or 3 months. All the vets in my area want payment at the time of service. We don't even do that at the people internal medicine office I work for. We allow people to make payments. We'll even accept 5.00 or 10.00 a month. I certainly understand the cost of running a medical office. I'm the office manager at my Internal medicine office, but it would be nice if the vets in my area would be willing to work with people a little more. I'm sure some would try to ditch them, but for the poor, but honest, folks like me who appreciate good care for their animals, I'm happy to pay the charge. It would ease my mind to know I had 2 or 3 months to pay it off if I incurred a large bill.

| Im so thankful for my vet. He is reasonable and answers my every call or at least returns it. If I am just dead set on bringin on the boys out there bc of something - he may or may not charge me. Depends on what he does but if he does charge me, its no more than 20 for a visit. And if I dont have the $ - thats ok, I can pay later. He is a small town vet that has been in business for years. Im not sure what we are going to do when he retires.

| When Spike had his neuter done, he also needed 10 baby teeth pulled. My vet doesn't do surgeries, so he sent me to a canine dental specialist who quoted me $1400. I though that was really high, so I got another estimate from a vet my co-worker recommended. They quoted me $800, so Spike went there, and they were great. In hindsight, I should have asked my vet if one of his colleagues would do it (there's four or five vets in the office), but eveything turned out okay. When Spike got a little infection last month and needed antibiotics, they only charged me for the pills - $17!!! I thought that was great - and I really like my vet. My new rule is - don't be afraid to get a second opinion! |

| I have a hard time with the schooling cost justification for high vet bills sometimes bordering on price gouging as I am a teacher with a Master's and I have about $40,000 in school loans and I don't feel I get compensated fairly for the job I do (I soooo don't want to get into a debate about whether others feel this is true, I'm just saying...) but I do it because I love kids and I know that I am an excellent teacher and I know that I am doing good things. I do think vets should be compensated for the job they do but I have a hard time paying almost $40 just to walk in the door as I am always on time and left waiting for upwards of 35 minutes and I often know what the problem is, just need a confirmation and prescription and I am on my way in less than 15 minutes. That aside... I would absolutely be able to feel much better about the cost of vet care if vets allowed for payment plans. This would make it more manageable for and I think there would be fewer complaints about quality vet care.

| Vet prices are very expensive. I'm conflicted right now (i posted this in a post in the general discussion forum) but thought I'd post it here as well. Yesterday I took Lucy to the vet for a puppy wellness exam ($42), 2 vaccines DHPP (13.50) and Rabies (13.50) and 1 revolution vial ($15) so my price was about a total of $90. Which in retrospect really isn't that bad, since I pay $30 just as a co-pay to see a doctor and I know the insurance company is paying a lot more. Oh and that price includes when I have to take her back in for her Bordatella in a few weeks. The vet also included a Spay estimate and here is my dilemma, when I purchased Lucy I recieved a Free Spay Certificate at the local Animal Care Center, I have only been there twice for Lucy's initial exam and then for her 2nd set of vaccines because I had 2 free vet visits included with her as well. The certificate does say that "any additional diagnostic or laboratory services are not included under this agreement". I still need to call them and find out exactly what is included because that will also help me determine where I get her spayed. Anyway this is the cost break-down that my normal vet gave me yesterday: I will be getting this bloodwork done regardless of where she gets spayed: Pre-Surgical Profile 113 CVL (complete blood panel) $45 Bile Acids Pre & Post Prandial 257 IDEXX $90 Pre-diagnostic tests total $135 IV Fluids-Routine Surgery $45 Rimadyl Injection $26 Ovariohysterectomy-spay K9<30 lbs $180 Included in the spay is: Anesthesia-monitoring, toe nail trim, surgical hospitalization, Buprenorphine injection (pain), elizabethan collar $10 Rimadyl 25 mg. chewable (5 tablets) $10.25 Spay cost totals: $261.25 If I got all of this done the grand total would be $406.90 This just seems like so much...I know regardless I'll be paying that $135 but I'm just curious what do you think that other clinic meant by any additional diagnostic or laboratory services?

| I'm not sure what they meant but maybe something to do with if they did heartworm bloodtest, EKG before surgery... By the way, you are getting a deal with your regular vet on the preop bloodwork. Ellie had surgery and that part cost me $94.

| xrays here are about $75 they can get a urine sample from putting a needle into the bladder if not catching it when they go potty some pets have to be sedated to be xrayed also that isn't a high price also most vets will charge board if they stay over night at $10 +
