| ![]() Today, I take Lucy for her second-round of vaccinations, this is my first time taking her for shots as she already had been vaccinated the first time when I got her. These are the shots that she has already recieved and these are the ones she is scheduled for today, please let me know if this is correct, or if there are any additional vaccinations that I should consider getting, also what is the average cost of these vaccinations? We have two other dogs so I'm probably going to get her a Bordetella shot she is 3 months old is she too young? Also could anyone tell me what all these shots are for? These are the shots that she got between June 6- June 10 Vanguard Plus 5 Fedabendazole Metronidazole Nutrient Gel Puppy Aid (think this might have just been a supplement) Sulfadiazine/Trime On June 20, 2007 she had these shots Strongid T Vanguard Plus 5 Thanks in advance! |

| ![]() HI, If they give the vaccine today, that will be a total of 3 shots if I read correctly in a month. That is alot of vaccine in my opinion spaced close together. Vanguard plus 5 is to guard against canine distemper, hepatitis, adeno type 2, parainfluenza and parvo. I cant help you with the cost. Probably 15.00-20.00, plus office visit. |

| ![]() Well i think they are boosters so they were spaced out so i think it's just the next round of the booster I believe, and then she will finish the booster on August 4 and then come back a few weeks later for her rabies vaccine. Does that make it not as many shots? Its been a while since we have had a little Yorkie Puppy our others are 7. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing and won't hurt her. |

metronidazole is flagyl used for giardia. It is in liquid ortablet form and given over the course of about 5 - 7 days. It is not a vaccine. Sulfadiazine/Time is a sulpha medication to treat coccidia not a vaccine. It should also be given for at least 7 days. These would not be given unless there is a problem. I ahve no idea what Fedabendazole is, might be a wormer of some sort but Strongid T is definitely a wormer. Nutrient puppy aid is a supplement like Nutrical.

| ![]() I give shots vaccines at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks, but that is just what I do. That is a pretty routine schedule. I do know that sometimes when my puppies leave the new owners vet will repeat the shot even though the puppy has been given the vaccine and they recieve lots numbers and vial labels. Which grips me. But Im sure the vet is just making sure the puppy is being covered for illness. I wasnt real clear on your post. It says you are taking the puppy in for the first time for shots, but with the info in your post below it looks like she would have 3 vaccines. June 6-10, June 20, and then today July 13. I would just ask your vet and make sure topgive him the dates of vaccines. They may chose to wait a bit later. With that info Im sure your vet will do right by your puppy. ![]() |

| ![]() Well she had her other shots before I got her this is just the first time that I'm taking her to get them. Yeah they have a copy of the shot records already. Yeah the two medicines that were for those illnesses were given to her over a week-long span, she has been healthy since we've had her, I mean her stool has been soft but not diarhea and she has a little cough but she's on calvamax ab for that. |

| ![]() If she is on Clavamox for a cough I am not sure if it is a good idea to do the shots right now. And definitely don't do Bordetella (kennel cough) she is too young and not a good idea if she has a cough. Hopefully your Vet knows to make the right decision. |

| ![]() Yeah he hadn't said anything about the Bordatella shot my sister had gotten it for her Yorkie and said I might want to get one for Lucy, when is a good age to get that for her? Well I'll still take her into the vet today to get a check-up and I'm sure if she is still not well they won't give her the vaccines. Will the AB and the vaccine combo make her sick? |

Vaccines work by challenging the immune system. If she is sick that she is on antiobiotics, her immune system is not going to be working properly. You don't want to challenge an immune system that is already challenged fighting off an infection or illness. Yes, keep the appt and be sure to talk to your Vet and your concerns. the Vets I know won't vaccinate if there is a pre existing illness.

![]() Your puppy has had alot of medicine. If she is eating ok, drinking ok, pooping ok, peeing ok, playing, then I would hold off on any more vaccines until other meds are done for a few days.

| ![]() Yeah she is a very healthy and active puppy, she eats and drinks and is a wild little thing. She does have softer stool but I wouldn't classify it as diarhea but she is on that AB, all the other medicines she had were like the week fo June 6 before I got her. I will go to the vet and probably ask them to hold off on the vaccinations until she is better, that way I don't risk her getting sick at all. Thanks for the info on the Bordatella shot very helpful |

| ![]() Thanks for all of your help! We had her vaccinated with the Parvo/Distemper and the Corona vaccine but not Bordetella her kennel cough has cleared up and the vet said that she was put on the AB just to insure that it didn't develop into pneumonia. However, she had a stool analysis and it showed a tiny trace of coccidia and she was given an Albon suspension for 9 days. What is coccidia and how do dogs contact it, because about a week and a half ago she had a stool analysis done and it was negative. Is there anything that I should be doing to prevent this from happening in the future? |
