Ana, just send that baby to us ... we will be glad to train her!! There's no guarantee that Toto would part with her when it's time to send her back!!

I wish our countries didn't have such strict laws where pets are concerned!! I totally understand the reason for it, but they just don't understand, our babies are different!! It would be nice to visit!

yorkiesrule, I understand your being hesitant about Lexi being spayed! We went through the same tough decision with Toto ... but we are really glad that we did it. She did great and within a few days was her old self. We didn't let her jump around for about two weeks when we could control her because of the stitches. Keep us updated!

mei mei, that little "snorty" thing that these babies must just be a Yorkie trait! I have heard sooo many who say that theirs do it. The first time Toto was playing and did it, we were mortified!! Rushed her to the vet, who could find nothing wrong! Since she knows how badly it scared us, she is always certain to check her trachea every time we take her in ... and so far ... so good!!

Simon update!

The doc seems positive it is reverse sneezing, although she was able to get him to produce a small cough when applying pressure to his gobble lol. She said he might have a bit of an elongated pallate (top of his mouth) that may trigger it too.

She said it may be the start of a collasping trachea, and prescribed some anithistamines that seem to be helping. In the meantime I'm just going to watch him very closely and make sure his little throat is monitored. For all the worry he put me through last week, I thought I'd reward his good behavior at the vets (even if he was gassy and embarrassed his mom!) by taking him by my office afterwards - and that little brat didn't "honk" not once even with all the darting about from desk to desk for belly rubs!

Lol... I don't think he ever saw a glass door before, because his little legs got to running full speed and found out what glass is very fast. Thonk!

Ps - I don't remember why I first started calling him Pickle, he's only a six pounder, really little guy so Pickle suits him.

My oldest Peaches has done that "honking" sound since she was little. My vet explained to me that in the throat of the yorkie there are little "rings" which when the dog makes the honking sound it is when those little rings collapse a little in their throat. He said it was nothing to worry about and the collapsed trachea which is somewhat common in yorkies was not her issue. My youngest one does not make that noise at all.........I would still ask your vet to check your baby.

I followed this advice a few hours ago and got BIT. My otherwise super gentle, docile, submissive and happy Dachshund did NOT like this.

The cut on my nose isn't severe, but it's a good 3/4 inch long. If the butterfly closures don't keep it shut, I will have to go in for stitches tomorrow.

Don't blow up the dog's nose!!!

Ours is 7 and has been making a siimilar noise for many years. We talked to our vet once, and she suggested reverse sneezing but said she had to hear it first. Well, a couple weeks ago Sophie had her teeth cleaned, and when I was picking her up she did it. It is reverse sneezing.

Peanut does that same thing!! I googled it as well as I was scared too!! I thought he had a collapsed trec. Sometimes he goes without doing it for a couple weeks, and some he does it more than once a day! The ONLY way to find out if he does have a collapsed trec is to get an xray. We did that with peanut and he doesnt have a ct. I told the vet that he does it and he gave me some cough meds and told me when he does to that just to rub his throat up and down. You can give them robitosion dm too.. It is just something that small breeds do, I have heard many other small breeds do the same thing! Just get the xray to make sure your furbaby doesnt have a ct, I really doubt he does, because just from what you were saying it sounds like peanut to the T. So when your baby does that just talk to him and rub his throat up and down and he will be fine
