| ideas for a hygienic haircut Hello everyone, What a great site you have! My name is Mary and I am the proud mother of a 4 yr old retired breeder named Bella. She has owned me now for 8 months. I love her long hair and have done only minimal trims. (around the eyes, experimenting with the ears, bootie). My problem is twofold, she is not potty trained very well so sometimes she takes forever to sniff just that right place outside. (I tried puppy pads with NO interest at all). In preparation for those mosquito filled southern summer nights I got her a playpen to go potty in. If I put it in the grass, I cant tell whether she's done her business or not. If I put it on the cement she steps in it and smells. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know I need to do something with the long hair on the feet and legs.... Mary |

| Hi and welcome to YT. So glad you could join us. Well the first thing maybe would be keep the hair cut out of the pads, and then trim the feet back to the tips of the nails and around so that the hair doesn't touch the ground. I wouldn't bother with a pen outside. I'd just take her out so she can potty and I'd stand and watch to see if and where she goes. If she doesn't go at all, then put her in either an expen when you bring her in, or a crate. Don't let her have run of the house till she is house trained. Good luck with your baby, and bless you for adopting her. |

| Hi Mary, I have a Yorkie from Melba Sonier in Eunice, LA. Do you know her? Have you tried Newspaper with Simple Solutions Potty Training Aid sprayed on it? I train all of mine on Newspaper & Outside too. Mosquitoes -Their coming soon -we have them real bad down here on the Coast line!!! In the summer they spray around our subdivision almost every night. Right now it's the Love Bug invasion.

| wow, small world, huh Thanks for the suggestions. Kim, That is amazing! Is she a groomer here? I dont know her but I think the name sounds familiar. Your babies are adorable. Which one did you get from Melba? Yes, the rest of the world doesnt know the importance of newspaper training for our summer nights!! I will certainly try the Simple Solutions potty training aid on paper. There is also a "favorite rug" she uses occasionally that is washable. I may try it on that also. Mary |

You do realize that once they start peeing on area rugs - there is no stopping it. I would just try the newspaper & outside training. Yes Melba is a Groomer also - she grooms out of her Kennel - I think its called Emu Ranch Road. Very Private area off the main Highway.Give her a try, she is so loving & caring. I got Kylee from her, she is 9 months old now. She is the one with the pink ponytail in her hair in my Avatar. I just got another Yorkie Puppy from Kelly in Lafayette last week (Stormy). We have a new litter 11 days old from Lexi & Scruffy. Tiki is the puppy I gave to my Mom & Dad from Scruffy's litter with a friends female Chloe. 1st pic - Kylee 2nd - Scruffy, Lexi & puppies 3rd - Stormy 4th - Tiki
