| cocoa is neutered- its safer at dog parks now i totally recommend getting your dog neutered especially if its a small female dog. when other dogs are around or if your frequenting a dog park the other dogs will go crazy for your dog. your will have different scent to them. if they are in heat its even worse. could be unsafe with a trail of big dogs following your little dog around every step of the way. cocoa wasn't even in heat and only weighed 5lbs and she always had 3-5 dogs taking turns smelling and if she tried to run the dogs would start yelping and getting testy. lol |

| As a former breeder of pit bulls my personal opinion is that you spay or neuter a dog that is not up to the breed stands as established by the UKC or AKC where ever your dog is registered. I'm not saying there is something wrong with your dog you just need to really look into this, so there are no oops! happen, and you land up with a litter of dogs that nobody wants. Yes some people will buy a dog that is not up to the standards, but the object of breeding is to breed the best of the breed. There's so much involved in breeding I could write a book. Speaking of which you can read the standards for your dog under either UKC or AKC, and arm yourself with loads of books on the subject. It will help you make a very informed decision. The pounds are so full of unwanted dogs, that I'm sure you don't want to add to that population. Please don't take anything I said as a attack on you. It wasn't meant that way. I wrote it to help teach, and inform you on your decision to spay or neuter. Sincerely, Smitty |

| I am sorry someone thought you were joking. The subject of breeding is a very controversial one for some people and I can certainly see why you would want your yorkie to be mommy and have babies. It seems natural but it is not always the best thing. Last edited by SoCalyorkiLvr; 08-12-2005 at 08:11 AM. |

I just couldnt chance it with Gidget...that would kill me. Not to mention just in my opinion if you arnt planning on breeding your pup you should have them spayed or nuttered.....there are so many unwanted pups out there why add to the population. | |
