Yes we got Gidget spayed when she was "of age" just for the fact that we wernt going to breed her and I didnt want the chance of something happening to her....I have read that just with regular births they can have issues and also the bigger dog issue concirned me...we are in a duplex so we share the back yard and the neighbors have dogs as well so I wasnt taking chances (they arent the most responsable anyhow) I know my husbands grandparents had a small dog and she was "taken" by a larger dog and basicly it tore her apart...she is alive and had her pups but has never been the same...she can hardly walk and is messed up inside because of it. I don't know what kind of dog got with her but her pups (some of wich are still in the extended family) are the size of Bostons (the mom was no bigger then Gidget ... 6lbs)
I just couldnt chance it with Gidget...that would kill me.
Not to mention just in my opinion if you arnt planning on breeding your pup you should have them spayed or nuttered.....there are so many unwanted pups out there why add to the population.
