				   | My vet just advised me that he is not going to carry Heartgard anymore and is going to Sentinel. He said it works for Fleas, heartworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. And is cheaper than buying the flea treatment and the Heartgard. But I did a search here..and some were skeptical on the flea treatment of it, some said it killed the eggs but not the live fleas? Has anyone used it and has it worked for fleas as well as the other vet flea treatments?

				   | Sentinel is WAY expensive. The flea medication in there only kills flea eggs. It does not kill live fleas or the larvae. Most of the time you end up having to buy a separate flea medication to treat/prevent the live fleas. I would suggest getting Interceptor or Heartguard which is just the worm medication and buying the flea medication separate. If your vet doesn't sell these products, go to another vet and buy them. I used to use Sentinel and doesn't do ANYTHING for fleas, that's for sure. |

				   | Ok what do you guys mean WAY expensive? My vet said about $60 dollars for 6 months worth. Now I'm paying $4 a month for Heartgard and about $12/month for the flea trmt, so it's about the same. But now that I think about it.. I don't do the flea medicine all year so it will be more..

				   | I used it for years with my last yorkie and never had a problem with fleas or anything else. $60 is the norm at the vets for a 6 month supply and you pay about the same for the other two products. I liked it because it was oral and easy. I'd recommend it highly. You may be able to get a discount online with some research. Good luck on whatever you decide. |

				   | The girls at my vets office told me that sentinel had a birthcontrol for fleas in it and the others didn't. They told me they would not prevent fleas or kill fleas but just prevent them from reproducing. They also told me that interceptor is cheaper and since sentinel doesn't kill fleas I would have to use another flea product anyway, so they recommended interceptor. |

				   | I used to use Sentinel, but it didn't do much for the fleas. Now, I use Revolution and I love it. No fleas!! |

				   | So, if you live in an area of ticks, your only option is to use 2 products - one for fleas and ticks, and the other for the various worms. When I bought my dog, Buffy, she tested positive for Lyme's - her breeder was using one of those all-in-one products. So, if you live in a part of the country with Lyme's disease, make sure to cover for ticks. If you have no ticks/Lymes, than Sentinel or Revolution should be fine. |

				   | I use Sentinel and LOVE it. It is cheaper if you get the entire 12 months at a time (recommended, since heartworm protection is really needed year-round even in cold weather). I pay around $100 for 12 months. My babies are not outside that much, but I've never had a problem with live fleas. The Sentinel does act as a flea birth control, killing eggs. I also bathe weekly and I can't stand the chemical smell of the topical flea treatments. The shampoo I use (SheaPet) also has essential oils that help repel fleas. With this being a small tablet, I just squeeze it into a piece of cheese and have no problems with the girls eating it right up. I give it

				   | I live in Florida where the fleas never die. Sentinal was recomended by my vet. No problem so far. Capsar was mentioned for live fleas. Here are the links to the sites: http://www.ah.novartis.com/products/.../capstar.shtml http://www.ah.novartis.com/products/...sentinel.shtml |
