| Permethrin is used in a cream for scabies. It is prescibed in the ER all the time. As a matter of fact I have a tube of it in my medicne cabinet at home-we all do (dr's and nurses in the ER) for "just in case". It says "thoroughly massage Permethrin cream , 5% into the skin form the head to the soles of the feet, ONE APPLICATION IS GENERALLY CURATIVE." People put this on their kids. I have put it on an area on my hand once that I thought could be scabies, and I had a terrible reaction to it. Thanks for the info. I am using advantage on Hannah right now but when I run out I was planning on switching to Revolution. |

| Sorry to hear... sorry to hear what happened to your baby. I currently go to Banfield and I get the Advantage prescribed. Although because he is usually in the house I don't necessarily apply too much of the medication unless I know there is a bad case of fleas going around. Surprise to hear that your Banfield in Alabama didn't carry Advantage. |

| What's the alternative? What's the alternative since all fleas & ticks repellent do have poisons in them.

| And I been using K-9 Advantix for 2 years now without a problem. Perhaps its the climate? Definitely read that this had happened in the warmer areas of the states. Although something did happen to my baby a month ago. I used a hairdryer to "dry" the area off. I did quick brisk shots of warm air and never to let it stay for more than a second. After 15 seconds, the area became really red. At the end of the day, the redness subsided. Also, if Bayer made Advantix, wouldn't that apply to Advantage as well?

| Revolution Then... Didn't mean to bump this post but I guess I'm settling for Revolution since Advantix, Advantage and Frontline seemed harmful to our babies (according to original post). Have to find out where I can get Revolution. Any suggestions?

| Revolution requires a prescription so you can either get it at your vet, or you can order it online but the site will have to call your vet to get a prescription in order to fill it. |

| OMG! i just found a tick on my dogs neck! I grabbed some tweezers and was able to pluck it out head and all.I bathed my dog and started disinfecting EVERYTHING. I called the vet and they told me that as long as I got the head out it would be alright and recommended advantix. I'm just freaking out now because I don't know what to use. Any suggestions?

| I just got a little yorkie on the 12th and my vet recommened k-9 advantix and I did put it on her but now after reading this thread I think I will go and scrub her down. I am not sure why I even got it b/c I use Sentry natural defence on my lab but I really dont know if it works b/c she stays outside. I just read the reviews on Sentry and 2 didnt like it and 1 did. So who knows what to do now. Man nothing is safe these days!

| The new product coming out in 2007 is out. DO NOT TRY IT!!! It is called Triforce. The vet supply store that I work at had 2 customers with BAD reactions to it in the first week we sold it. We were told by the vet that owns the store that this is "better than Frontline" and those people that have dogs and fleas that have build up immunity using Frontline should use this product. It is not any cheaper than the Frontline we sell, but we only sell Frontline to people that have been previously approved. It is not out for the general public. I have not tried to do an internet search to see if anyone else is having problems with Triforce. The smallest package is not even labled for yorkie sized dogs. Please Please do not try this product with your dogs!! |

| K-9 Advantix I have used k-9 advantix on my little Bella since she was a puppy. She has never showed any signs of a reaction to it. But now I am going to read up on it. Too scary. Thanks for the info. Jay
