Question Royal Canin For Yorkies

Has anyone used the Royal Canin for Yorkies dry food...I didn't know they made such different brands...Is there a difference, They also make German Shepherd dry food for Max, I was just wondering if anyone has used the different kinds or does it really matter...

Chachi and jewels eat the royal canin for yorkies. They are picky about their dry food and it is the only dry food I have found they will eat. When they were pups they ate the puppy formula

I am trying to find something I can get all of them to eat, I have very picky eaters, but Max (GSD) will eat anything, but I watch his food really careful, He is eating Iams(I know, thats what he was on with the breeder) and Redbarn Beef roll, I mix it together...So would you recommend it for the breed dry...Thanks

When I bought Sadie the breeder had put a bag of RC in her puppy pack..This is what she was eating when the breeder had her..I found she didn't care for it very much. She is a very picky eater...I have gone through many different brands. I bought a new puppy back in August. Lillie was on Nutro Ultra Puppy...(Lillie will eat anything!) I wante to get them on the same food and Sadie didn't really care for the Nutro (plus, it doesn't get a very good rating) so I put them both on Canidae all stages...It is a small kibble and they both love it! I also use the canned...just a little in the bowls in the morning and at evening feedings...kibbles are left out to free feed all the time.

For the yorkies I have tried everything, but I havent tried Canidae or Royal Canin, I want to get them on one thing together...Mac was eating his at night with yogurt but now I put alittle of Max's redbarn roll in the dry and the poop heads will eat the roll and get the dry all over the floors...Can you get that at most pet stores or is it a special on line thing...

RC is the only dog food that Lucy will eat. And we have tried everything. The only problem with RC might be that it has corn in it, but Lucy does not have skin problems so she is OK.

The Royal Canin made Brandy itch but was fine for Titan. I have them eating California Natural chichen and rice now with no problems.

I've tried everything as well and my pups won't eat anything but Royal Canin. I tried the Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier, but the kibbles are too big for my babies....so I'm stuck with the Royal Canin Puppy for now. Does anyone know of other brands that have extra small kibbles that's not for puppies?

Shelby & Seymour have been eating RC since they were little...... lol.... they are still "little"! It does have corn in it. I have tried others, but after the initial "Oh Boy... new food" excitement has worn off, they won't eat it, and we are back to RC.

Innova has small triangular pieces with a hole in the middle -- easy for them to crack. Diamond has a small breed food that is very small kibble -- like small early peas. Canidae and Chicken Soup are fairly small but not as small as the Diamond Small Breed. Wellness was larger than Canidae by a bit. I have not tried Solid Gold Wee Bits but hear it is small kibble too.

The Diamond Small Breed is the smallest kibble I have seen and my dogs loved it. Diamond had a bad history last year when their food got contaminated with mold that grows on corn. But they no longer use corn in their products. I used it without worry -- but am using the Canidae now as it is an All Life Stage food and I have two pups, a young adult and a senior. This way they can all eat the same thing.

Oscar was on Royal Canin for two years and was itchy. He also had a "chronic sore" on his neck for most of that time. Three vets recommended doing surgery to remove the sore that just would not get well. It oozed all the time and drove us nuts. I tried other dry foods and he was so picky he just refused to eat them. Then I tried Wellness Fish & Sweet Potato and he loved it! I loved the ingredient list!!! He is on his 4th bag and the sore is gone!!! The kibble is a little larger but for Oscar, this is a good thing. He gobbled the RC small bites and NEVER chewed them. He sometimes threw up whole food! The Wellness he has to crunch and he absolutely loves the food. The number one ingredient is whitefish. It contains ground barley, rye flour, sweet potatoes, canola oil and flaxseed. No meat by products, no rendered animal fats, no wheat, no corn, no soy, no dairy or eggs, no white rice, no artificial preservatives, no added sugar or salt and no artificial flavors, colors or dyes. The food smells like fish!!! But the fact that he loves the food and it seems to be so very good for him helps me get past the fishy breath!!! Puppy kisses telling me he loves his food are wonderful in ANY flavor!!!

I too wanted to get all three of mine on the same food and RC was the winner. They loved it from the minute I put it in their bowl to sample it.
