| Sounds like "choking" Everytime my little girl -Mia- gets excited (like when we comeback home from work), she gets so excited and she starts kind of "choking". Does any of your Yorkies do that? do you know if it's related to their trachea or if it's pure excitement? thanks for your help!! |

| yikes!! Have you asked your vet about this? My Lily doesn't do this (I don't think). I think may be I would asked just because it could be something serious like her trachea.

| Chloe Does And Zeus My Chloe Has Been Snorting When She Smiles At Me. I Didn't Know What She Was Doing Til She Was On The Arm Of My Couch. I Seen Her Teeth And Thats How I Knew What She Was Doing. She Smiles And I Mean She Shows Her Teeth And Snorts With Every Smile. Now My Zeus Has A Kind Of Cough But It Is From Seasonal Allergies. It Sometimes Sounds Like He Is Wheezing. I Took Him To The Vet And That Is What It Is. If Someone Sprays Anything Or Perfume Is Too Strong He Goes In To The Wheezing It Does Pass But He Has To Take Benadryl For Kids. I Would Take Your Little One To See Your Vet. Hope This Helps. Susan, Chloe & Zeus |

| I asked her vet and he said that in order to give the diagnosis they'd need to do a lot of tests (worth about $700!!). I thought on asking around before doing the tests. Other than that, she's pretty healthy and very active (sometimes too active...). I'm not sure what to do, I mean, the choking episodes are not that bad and they're very short |

| You Know That Is A Shame When They Tell You It Will Cost That Much, When At Times They Would Know Just By Seeing Them And Hearing What You Hear. Makes Me Think It's All About $$$$. Does It Seam To Be When You Spray Anything Or The Perfume You Wear Or Even Carpet Freash Will Do It. Cutting The Grass Etc... My Zeus Does It When Things Like That Are Done. Chloe Bites Her Paws And Acts Like She Has Fleas All The Time. If Any Of This Could Be True It Is Allergies. Mine Do Take A 1/4 Of A Childrens Benadryl. Thats What My Vet Told Me To Give Them. Keep Me Posted About What You Find Out. Susan From Pa I Have 5 Zeus, chloe, venus, midas And Bigg's B |

| My Ginger does the same thing, it sounds like .. you know when you got like something in your throat and your try to cough it up, but not really cough.. lol hard to explain, but here too they will charge you an arm and a leg just to see what it is other than that ginger is healthy, eating great, sleeping fine, being sociable as usual.. only happens when she gets very hyper... |

| Coughing or Honking Our Yorkie, Carib, started to make a "honking" kind of noise, almost like he had a fur ball in his throat. From what I read, Yorkies have the tendancy to "reverse sneeze". They stand erect with head jutted out, eyes open, and legs somewhat bowl-legged. If you rub their throat and make them swallow, the noise should stop. If your Yorkie has a raspy sounding cough - take them to the vet immediately as this could be a sign of a collapsing trachea, which this breed is prone to. Also, be sure to use a harness versus a typical dog collar!

| Gracie does this too when she gets too excited. In a Yorkie book it says to distract them by making a loud noise to get there attention so they stop what they are doing and are able to breathe properly. I don't know where DH put the book so I can't look up the specifics. We were worried, but since we found it in one of our books we dont' worry so much anymore. Heather |

| Choking Its Strange But Last Night My 17 Week Old Puppy Did It Also . I Have Never Read This Post And I Came On And It Was Here . She Did It When She Was Really Excited To Get Out Of My Arms And Hang With The Big Dogs. So When I Didn't Put Her Down She Continued. As Soon As I Took Her Away From Them It Stopped . It Almost Sounds Like A Deep Snore .. I Think Its Excitment Linda |
