This was after he'd already checked out all the rooms, jumped on my kids beds (rubbing his face on everything) etc. I'd lived with a family who's cats had fleas - so I know what a flea infestation is like.

The shelter person had given me a thing of Frontline - so I applied that on Saturday. I've washed all my kids bedding and sprayed carpets and the furniture with Zodiac FleaTrol and vacuumed - I'm just completely freaked.

It's kind of sad because we just want to enjoy our new addition - but I don't want to let him in the carpeted area of the house until I know all is well.

The other thing is - he was neutered last Monday - so can't be washed until Wednesday . I just want to clean him!!! So, once he's clean, how do I know it's safe to let him in the rest of the house? He's still itching behind his ear - but there shouldn't be anything biting him anymore right? I'm guessing the bite still itches?

Well, with as many flea problems as I have had this season (which I FINALLY have under control), my house never got infested. I have carpets and my 2 sleep in the bed with us, but I am certain the fleas are not in my house. I am almost positive that it is because there is no reason for the fleas to get off the animal and into the carpet or bed. There is not a host in the carpet or bed. I think that if you have applied the Frontline, then he should be safe to roam the house within 24 hours....this is how long it takes the Frontline to work. Fleas are only going to come off the dog if they are dead or if they have another host to latch onto.

You are lucky that the fleas are not bad in Colorado!!!! I am sure once you get the fleas on your new addition under control this one time, that they won't come back.

Aww poor baby. I hope you find out what making her break out in red bumps. Maybe it coulod be some type of bug. if she's on Advantix..it isn't mosquitoe bites. Keep us updated. Don't worry.

It could be a heat rash too on Lexi. Sometimes that happens and it is red little bumps. It's good you are taking her in just to be sure but don't assume the worst yet. I would also die if I ever found a flea or tick on Coco. I am taking her camping and I'm deathly afraid of a tick or flea getting to her, even though she's on frontline.

i think your right nobella a heat rash ...hopefully..your right, like i said, i sit down everyday and check her skin.. nothing .....maybe allergies.. we shall see
