| Can anyone recommend a good dry food? My Yorkie chewbacca will only eat Royal Canine, but only when he is extremely hungary (every other day or so). We've tried Merrick, Iams, Nutro, Eukanuba and some store brand foods. If we mix wet food or dog gravy with the dry he'll lick the kibbles clean. I wish I could find a dry food that he will eat daily and not turn his nose. We want him to stay on a dry food diet for healthy teeth, but we don't want to starve him. Any recommendations??? |

| I feed Royal Canin-there is a new one for puppies to 4 or 5 months. Wet the kibble with warm water to bring out the smell or mix with the gravy, cheese or shredded chicken for a while. Then gradually reduce to dry only as he gets older. There is nothing wrong with a mixed diet--as long as he eats some dry kibble when older, his teeth will benefit. My fussy puppy ate Royal Canin when she wouldn't eat much else! Now she also likes a bit of Nutro choice too.

| Just keep trying. After a dry food strike of 2 months, Sissy has finally started eating a few bites of a mixture of Chicken Soup, Solid Gold Wee Bits and Nutro Ultra.

| Okay, I don't know if you have tried this, but some of Merrick's food can be mixed with water to make it "with gravy." Mia eats puppy plate, and she loves it when we mix it a tad of warm water. Good luck.

| We had Chewy on Innova for a while, and I must have wanted to spoil my little guy b/c I started putting some same brand wet food in his dish as a treat. He soon only would eat that. Then it seemed I had to heat up his food a bit for him to eat. Chewy got soooo spoiled! It was not a good thing b/c when I had him stay over at grandma and grandpa's or my aunt's house, that would be the only way he would eat too. So, a few weeks ago when I was out of town, my husband weaned him off the wet/dry food combo. Said Chewy didn't eat for like 3 days but when he was hungry enough, he dug into the dry Innova food for puppies I used to feed him. So, now, when it's meal time, he doesn't get all excited, and sometimes it takes him a few minutes or so, but eventually he gets around to it and eats it all. He has 3 meals a day now, 1/3 cup each time, and no wet food. I really did want to get him off the wet food even though he loved it - to spare his teeth - I want my little guy to have all his chompers when he's older ya know?
