| Prescription Hills Dog food Remmy had to be on C/D hill prescription food for the rest of his life. I was hesitant to put him on this as thier are no guarentees that he won't get stones again but i'm wondering if anyone has used this and did thier baby get stones again or did it work? I know every baby is different but just wondering about other peoples experience with it. |

| We've used Hill's R/D for Zeus' pancreatitis for the past 2 years and have been very happy. I don't know anything about the C/D, but Hill's seems to be a very good food. Good luck and hope your baby doesn't get any more stones!!

| Kobe is 7 yrs old. He was put on l/d when he was 4 yrs. old because of kidney stones. He has not had a problem since. He does take spells when he refuses to eat it. I searched online and when this happens I make him oats, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, & pumpkin (all mixed together). He will eat this for a week or so and then he will go back to his l/d. I do mix cottage cheese and pumpkin in with his l/d. |

| I have a cat who's on the C/D.... He had so many crystals he actually developed a blockage in his urninary tract. I spent several hundreds in emergency vet bills to remove the blockage and perform other tests. He's been on it for about a year and half and I we haven't had a single problem. He would must rather eat the others cats' food (the C/D must not taste as good as the stuff the other kitties get), but he eats it because that's all I give him access to.... Every now and then he'll sneak a bite or two of the other stuff before I get around to picking it up after the others are done eating, but hopefully that won't cause too much damage. It is a bit more expensive than other foods, but IMO it's worth it if it even slightly reduces the chance of another emergency vet visit. |

| Sammy goes on I/D on occasion.....he never likes it at first but after a day or so he gobbles it up. He has a tender tummy, (pancreatitus) sp every so often. In the longrun that is the food that keeps him going when he gets sick. I do check fat content on his food now and am very careful about any treats he gets.

| Thanks everyone I feel better...one more question. Do you feed dry or wet? I got the dry at the vet because that is all they have but was wondering if your babies have a preference. I noticed that Remmy does not drink as much water as he should so maybe the wet is better for him. |

| Hello, I'm new to this. My sweetie spuirt was on this for pancreatitis and she loved it. They just had her on it for a little while. It seems she isn't gaining any weight since this happened. She's very playfull and eats really well. Should I put her back on this food? |

| My dog Sissy has inflamatory bowel disease and she is on Hill's Duck and Potato. I have to mash up her food with water, and that is the only food she is allowed. If she gets ahold of dry food, she barfs it up.

| What do all these initials stand for? I/D--C/D etc. Is this special food you have to order? My bichon has a tendency for stones also and the vet put her on Methiodol--an urinary acidifier to prevent crystal formation and she needs to be on it for the rest of her life. Has been on it for a couple of years and done great--no stones. I wasn't told that she had to be on any special diet and have feed her whatever food I had decided to feed her--right now she is on chicken soup. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | the letters usually stand for what is wrong with the dog. D just stands for diet. for example. I/D is intestinal diet, which means its a bland diet that is easy on the intestinal tract. Its used for dogs with diarrhea problems. Its also what we fed dogs who were staying the night at the hospital for whatever reason. its a bland enough food where it won't upset the stomach and cause diarrhea and vomiting while their away from their regular food. C/D is for crystals in the urine, K/D is for kidneys, W/D is for weight management, j/d is for the joints, t/d is for teeth, etc, etc.
