I have a cat who's on the C/D.... He had so many crystals he actually developed a blockage in his urninary tract. I spent several hundreds in emergency vet bills to remove the blockage and perform other tests.

He's been on it for about a year and half and I we haven't had a single problem. He would must rather eat the others cats' food (the C/D must not taste as good as the stuff the other kitties get), but he eats it because that's all I give him access to.... Every now and then he'll sneak a bite or two of the other stuff before I get around to picking it up after the others are done eating, but hopefully that won't cause too much damage.

It is a bit more expensive than other foods, but IMO it's worth it if it even slightly reduces the chance of another emergency vet visit.
