| Frankie's hurting My Frankie was attacked tonight by a rottweiler and although there was no blood and he seemed fine (but shook up) for several hours, he seems to be hurting right now. Should I give him a pain relieaver. He's sleeping right now. His temperature is 98.6. Is that nowmal?

| How did you take his temperature? Getting it right can be tricky. I have an ear thermometer and can never get the same temp. no matter how many times I've tried. Dogs usually have a temperature between 100.0 to 103.0 when taken that way. Normal rectal temp. is 100.5 to 102.5. Anything under 99 degrees could be something to be concerned about. Are you sure it is correct?

| No, I'm not sure. I tried it under his arm like I used to with the kids but he's tender and it hurt him. The last thing I want to do right now is hurt him. He was so scared.

| Ok, then you probably aren't getting an accurate reading. Which is probably a good thing because 98.6 is low. I would keep an eye on him and call the vet in the morning to see what they think.

| Thank You. I do too. These little guys and gals are so precious. It's amazing the amount of love they can generate in one day. He doesn't want to be touched at all right now. He's sleeping soundly & that a good thing right?

| I'm sorry, I can't answer that one. I would definitely watch him closely. I wish I could be of more help.

| I am so sorry to hear about your Frankie! We have a Rotty right next door to us. I try not to let my lil Frankie out if I know the Rotty is out, because I know my lil Frankie. He thinks he is a big dog and he tries to pick on the Rotty. That just scares me. I hope everthing comes out ok for your Frankie.

| If you have an E-vet available to you, get him to the vet NOW!! He could have internal injuries. Wendy |

| My thoughts are of possible internal injuries. He really needs to see a vet ASAP.

| That crossed my mind also. I took him to the vet this morning. He has some bruising under his arm and he's real tender but he'll be fine. I wanted to have an xray done but I didn't want him sedated. There was no way he'd sit still.
