| Should I Be Concerned? Chloe' is 3 1/2 months and weighs 1.12...Her parents were 5lb and 6lb but my vet has told me that she is going to be a smaller yorkie. What do I need to watch out for with a tiny one like this and do you think she'll get any bigger? She's really healthy right now, we've had to treat her for kennel cough but that went away with no problems and 7 days of medication. I'm really concerned...I would like her to at least be 5 lbs...I've heard that you double the weight at 3 months but that would put her at 2.12 and maybe adding on 1 lb for measure...3 lbs...Yikes! I love her to pieces though, she's my little angel! What do you guys think? |

| It just sounds like your girl is going to be tiny. Tiny doesnt have to have health problems. Theyre are alot of people on here with little ones that dont have any health problems. I would always have nutrical on hand with a smaller one. I would always watch out for hypoglycemic episodes. Just enjoy your little baby and try not to worry.

| I posted a thread like this a few weeks ago. I'm in the same boat. My Yorkie Bella is 7 months old and 3lbs. I was told she may hit 4lbs as an adult. Her mom is 6lbs and Dad 5lbs or 4lbs i'll have to look it up but I was told by the breeder she would be 5-51/2lbs full grown (not gonna happen). My other Yorkie Ruby is 5lbs and I find Bella's size holds her back from doing regular dog things that Ruby can do such as, go for a walk in the cold, going up and down stairs, jumping off things, she doesn't play as much but cuddles instead, picky eater and doesn't like being wet. My BF and I always call her our little cat because she's more like a cat then a dog but we Love her a lot! You just have to be extra careful.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali was 1 lb at 10 weeks and she is now 4.4lbs so they do grow at different rates. She may get to be close to 4lbs. I would watch for hypoglycemia in the tiny ones. She is adorable!

| Enjoy her. She will grow, she is still too young to tell just how big she will be though this that may give you an idea. http://yorkiepassion.com/growthchart.htm I have one friend who had one that completely stopped growing at 6 months and mine is still growing at 11 months. Anything is possible. Weight doesn't tell much. If a dog is a picky eater and underweight that doesn't mean they are tiny, it means they are skinny Anyone that is concerned about a dog being underweight should get Natural balance meat roll. Dogs love it and it fattens them up in a hurry. I have a smaller Yorkie and I was totally comfortable with her size once she made it past 3lbs. She could (and does) everything that bigger dogs do. Goes for walks, plays rough, runs up and down stairs. I don't let her jump on and off furniture (when I can help it) but with the knees this breed has no one should allow jumping. Enjoy your pup, just keep her safe from big feet. |

| Thanks! Thanks for the reply guys! I love her very much and she's my very special girl so I'll love her either way. She seems pretty hardy now so hopefully she'll have no other illness. It's nice to have someone to talk to about it though!! ~Tracy |
