| Upon the advice that Boogaboos mom gave me... I went ahead and plucked my little babies hair in her ears and already she seems so much better. She is scratching less and she seems more comfortable. Thank you.. thank you so much for your advice and help!!!! |

| Just a quick thought, only pluck the hair growing up from the ear canal. Not the hair actually growing on the inside of the ear. And if your dog has a lot don't try to pull the whole clump at once. Just a few at a time. They actually will just slide out pretty easily and shouldn't hurt your dog. And there should never be bleeding or a raw spot. My Brandy's ears have never had any hair to pluck. I just checked Titan and he has a little bit. Also, Q-tips should never be inserted into a dogs ears. Use a cotton ball. You only need to clean as far as you can see. A Q-tip will go deeper and could damage an ear drum.

| My little one HATED getting his ears plucked the first couple of times we did it. I had to hold him down while my mom plucked with tweezers. I am absolutely positive that we were not hurting him, but he hated to be held down. She only plucked the hair growing out of the ear canal, and then she cleaned his ears with Q-tips and alcohol...he LOVED that! She only did a few swipes with the Q-tips...she didn't go down in the ear canal or anything. Now he actually enjoys getting his ears plucked and cleaned out. He just lays on his back and relaxes. I am sure plucking the hair out will save us money in vet bills from ear infections, etc, although it is hard to do it at first because they really don't like it until they get used to it. |
