Just a quick thought, only pluck the hair growing up from the ear canal. Not the hair actually growing on the inside of the ear. And if your dog has a lot don't try to pull the whole clump at once. Just a few at a time. They actually will just slide out pretty easily and shouldn't hurt your dog. And there should never be bleeding or a raw spot. My Brandy's ears have never had any hair to pluck. I just checked Titan and he has a little bit.

Also, Q-tips should never be inserted into a dogs ears. Use a cotton ball. You only need to clean as far as you can see. A Q-tip will go deeper and could damage an ear drum.
