Able to relate to your comment "don't feel comfortable with..." Have had an experience where I wasn't comfortable. So glad your guy is doing well enough that you have a little time to assess others. Sounds like you have a good excuse to put the laundry off, too. Hugs, prayers to you all. Thank you for being such a great mama to your little one. --KatysMom. | |

We met with another doctor today - one that I liked, a lot, and who regularly does enucleations. He definitely knew his stuff. I scheduled the procedure with him for 6 weeks from now. Other than that, my dog is doing really well. Completely back to normal after going off the steroid drops.

AND, back to normal--that is amazing. I would not have suspected the steroid drops were causing all that havoc. | |

Glad to hear your boy is behaving and back to normal. Thank you for your diligent search for the perfect eye vet, and so happy you have found one you like and trust. Thinking of you and praying all goes well for the surgery. Try and stay cool until it is all done and your baby is doing well. I know it must be hard for you to do this, but it is for the dog’s best interest and wellbeing. I admire all you have done and are doing to keep your dog healthy. Please keep in touch. Hugs.

Hey everyone. We need your prayers today. Something happened this morning and he went into shock - I don't know what caused it. I took him outside and he was totally fine, then I brought him back inside and after a minute he started violently vomiting and pooping everywhere. I rushed him to the emergency vet and they admitted him as a critical patient. It happened so fast. He was fine and then he was the sickest I've ever seen him. They said they would call me around noon and let me know what his prognosis is. We are still 4 weeks out on his eye removal but I don't believe the two things are related. This was very sudden and violent.

Hi Parka, Prayers here. Bless you for the love and care you show your guy. Especially this morning for your attention and quick action. The bond you have with him is strong, suspect the waiting is hard on you. Sending you (both) comfort hugs for continued strength in the face of the unknown.

Hi again Parka. Perhaps he got into something when you took him out or perhaps he had a little seizure kind of attack. Praying for good news soon. Healing hugs.

Update: All his blood work was normal, they think he has hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. They are doing an ultrasound to make sure there isn't something secondary going on. He is going to have to stay overnight in the hospital for IV fluids.

Thanks for the update. Wow, if that is the dx, it sure comes on suddenly!!! What could have brought it on?? Do they have any ideas? Great news that blood work looks good, hope the vet treatment makes your baby better soon. Praying the US does not show any other dx. I imagine you will have a sleepless night with your boy at the vet, but know that he is being given good treatment and hopefully you will have him home soon. Thinking of you and the pawtient. Hugs.

I'm not sure, the internet says it can be brought on by stress and we had strangers at the house yesterday purchasing some furniture. But it seems like if that was the cause he wouldn't have gotten violently ill 12 hours later. They originally thought he was having an anaphylactic reaction to something because his paws were very swollen. I didn't think it was that because he's had those before and usually his face swells up like a balloon. I just went and visited him. He is now stable but he's definitely not ready to come home yet. He was spaced out and he had clearly vomited recently. I asked about the ultrasound and they said it will most likely be performed tomorrow. I thought the ER doc was going to do it and the radiologist was going to look at it tomorrow for an official interpretation, but I must have misunderstood. The whites of his eyes were very red when I visited and I asked them to keep an eye on that. I have not been separated from him overnight in many years. At least 4 or 5. And I have never spent a night in this house without him. But I know he's in the place he needs to be. I think it's going to be a rough night, and I'm not sure if I will go to work tomorrow. I haven't eaten either, and I'm not sure I want to eat, I just want to fast forward to whenever he can come home.

Hello. So sorry that your baby is still feeling bad. It could yet be caused by something outside that set it off. Not all allergic reactions are the same, or he could have eaten a bad bug or some other allergen? The eye issue could be from the vomiting? Anyway hoping with monitoring and treatment he will get better soon. I feel for you and know you will be so stressed until he is home and well again. Please keep us posted. Healing thoughts and prayers.
