OR it is the dog food that is making their stomachs issues. Everyone should go to Oldest dogs in the world! Secrets to old age in dogs. (it is written by a vet tech) so if you think vets/techs know every thing be advised that he adds bones to the list to have your dog to chew on.

My dogs and cats get them once a week all the time. Even Prince Charming. He was on i/do for 16.5 years answer never had any problems with bones.

Anyone can find a website that agrees with their ideas.

Just because you say you have not had problems does not mean that many have not had them.

I can tell you I have seen countless yorkies with health issues due to food and treats and chews and bones. We all have to find what works for us. AND we need to be aware of the negatives and positives of everything we provide for our pets. Just because your pets can tolerate something, does not mean that ALL will.

As for raw feeding, there are many facilities that have restrictions and will not allow dogs in them if they are being fed raw. Not everyone is careful with their pets. There is a risk to humans as well as other pets.

OK...I bit. I went to the above website. I am not so sure that everyone should be going to this website as you are suggesting. A lot of information without sources. Seems to be more one or more person's thoughts on topics rather than those backed with scientific research data.
Perhaps I overlooked their sources...if you see them and I am missing them, please let me know.
I have now and have had in the past many senior dogs and they didn't eat raw or chew raw bones. They also were vaccinated following AAHA and AVMA protocols unless there was a valid medical reason not to do so.

Hey all, been a while since I've been on -- Sylvia (a stray that was found and given to us) has been on Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Selected Protein Adult PV Dry Dog Food Venison & Potato since we got her in February. I was just informed it is no longer available. We had her on it because the dog we had before her was put on it due to stomach/intestine issues, and she couldn't tolerate the Yorkie version from Royal Canin, so we let her eat what we had, and she's done great.

What do you recommend? The vet said she could probably eat the one that is rabbit/potato, but I just can't bring myself to feed her rabbit! Looks too much like her -- ha! BTW, I had her DNA done, and she's 75% Yorkshire Terrier, 25% Miniature Poodle. She has gained a few pounds and is now 13 pounds, which looks great on her. She is absolutely the cutest little thing with a big Yorkie attitude. If I can figure out how to post her picture, I will.

Are you saying that Sylvie cannot tolerate the yorkie food? Royal Canin has a lot of choices. If you vet thinks a low fat diet would be ok for her, lots of dogs like the Royal Canin RX food for gastro issues.

I love this site. Dog lovers sharing their ideas and experiences. My yorkies are eating science diet I'd wet and royal canin mini sensitive stomach dry food. Their stools are back to normal. So far this is working.

Yes, the Royal Canin for Yorkshire Terriers makes her itch like crazy. I'm thinking about trying her on the Natural Balance LID Venison/Sweet Potato. Has anybody ever tried this? I've got about 4 days before I need to start incorporating with her current food which will run out in a few weeks.

I found an excellent natural food which is sold in PetSmart. It has all the necessary nutrients so I don't have to worry about cooking for my Yorkie and possibly causing other issues. The food is called "Only Natural" and they have several lines.

The store clerk, the bag the food is in, a registered pet nutritionist?

Often the information is not as accurate as we would like.
You might ask is anyone else on YT has used this food and how did it work. All pups are different but many YT folks have become very knowledgeable about dog food.

When we buy our Yorkie, she will have a vet and also an animal behaviorist when it's time to take her to obedience school. I don't see any reason to consult a professional for every little thing. I will love and care for my dog as I see fit. I am satisfied with the results of my research as well as my discussions with experienced dog owners, a vet and an animal behaviorist.

Just make sure you research the company many don't have vet staff on hand and don't do feeding trails and those are very important. You have to be careful with the word natural because there are not many laws saying what that requires of the food so it might not be really natural just a ploy to make you think it is.

Excellent advice love to dream. I have been looking at various dog foods and found out not all is truly natural. You have to make sure the ingredients aren't coming from China. I thank all Yorkie lovers for helping us find healthy foods for our dogs. The best advice is on this site from great dog owners.

Too much focus is put on ingredients IMHO. If you don't have the right place putting the food in the bags and cans it doesn't matter WHAT is in it. I hate that there is so little focus on quality control.

I am also bugged that companies spend so much money on marketing and not on quality staff.
